It is an interesting dynamic. I will try and find the gallup poll, but it reported about 48% of democrats go to church, and about 25% weekly. You would think a large number of this segment are black democrats too.

Democrats neither hate nor deny their Christian members. We simply won't accept them trying to pass laws based on their religion or force their religion upon society. Not many "tech geeks" are mainstream conservatives, but many are libertarians. That's why we have lots of liberals and libertarians here, and not many social conservatives. Seems pretty obvious to me.

I disagree with you about Anandtech being a haven for liberals. In my years of perusing these forums they seem to be overwhelmingly Conservative. Then again, perhaps my observation is skewed due to a "few" Conservatives spamming threads much more heavily than left-leaning types.

I kind of feel the same way. In general I think the majority as far a members of the forum are concerned are liberal or left of center, but the blathering from the right in quantity of the posts gives one the impression that it leans conservative.

Also, if one happens to be a tech in the defense industry, forget it. Virtual wall of conservatism.

I'd start with thinking about how often examples of "hating Christianity" look like "disliking official government backing of Christianity in violation of the 1st amendment". Not every Christian thinks the government needs to push their religious beliefs...

It is the love of money that corrupts.

IMO, the very purpose of money is to better the lives of others around you. Once your own life becomes comfortable, the extra money is to be used to help others reach that same point.

Sponsoring children in impoverished nations, for example, not only has the immediate effect of helping that child, but will also help the offspring that child has one day. It helps the family of that child care for the siblings of that child, since they now have more resources to use on the others.

Money is not evil, it is not bad. It is a gift once can give to others if one chooses to love something other than money.

Correction: Money, like guns, is a necessary evil.

I'm not big on religion either, I haven't attended a service in almost 40 years except for weddings and funerals. I do see many slaps at religion and religious people and the ignorant religious meme though and many of them come from the left. Not all of them, in fact I've done a few myself, but you sure see them coming pretty frequently from our usual lefty suspects. Keep an eye open and let me know if I'm grossly mistaken. I'll see if I can spot a couple and add them to this post.

But you see, when you mix religion, politics and high power finance into a party that's gone further right faster than the eveready bunny rabbit could ever bang his drum, the problem you mention is not so much a problem than it is a direct threat to the nation as we know it, or would want it to be.
