Modern IE does show your tabs amongst didferent computers and allows access to each computer's tabbing list; and it shows my Opera bookmarks (possibly from a previous IE import). Keep in mind, this only is possible of tab sync if one uses a Microsoft account as an encompassing login across devices, however no different than what Opera's sync login does.

Power snapshot while using the web now runs of a discharge hovering around 4.6W to 6.2W, going as low as 3.8W and depending on what is happening up to 11W.

I got the SP2 on launch day and I'm struggling with this as well. Chrome is a disaster on a high-res touchscreen, even with all the optimizations (turning off DPI scaling, enabling touch mode, zooming, etc.). But, I use Chrome on my Android device and work computer and love that it syncs between all 3. IE 11 obviously does not sync between my other devices.

Will Chrome release a Metro version that is actually usable anytime soon, and that can be easily switched from Metro to Desktop mode seamlessly?

*shrug* I've just been using the desktop version of Chrome with touch. Only real annoying part is having to bring up the keyboard manually. Granted, this has been on lower resolution screens.

I use Firefox aurora and while its good on high dpi, the pinch zoom and scroll is inferior to that of IE11

Chrome is not optimized for touch yet, so I would not recommend using it.

This is Google trying to backstab MSFT wherever they can to ensure their dominance in mobile at the expense of their customers. If you want to support such a company feel free.

Metro IE 11 is right now the best touch experience you can get on Windows. It blows away anything else and is a pure joy to use.

I am observing 10+ hours of battery life in Power Saving mode. Honestly for regular day to day tasks I don't even notice much of a performance difference.

Can it standby for a week or two if left alone? Or does one need to put it to sleep like a normal laptop?

I'd like one to play with but regardless of how good/bad it is I have a hard time justifying purchasing a device that's mostly going to sit next to me and serve as my substitute for alt-tabbing while playing a game or something lol. I just don't have a legitimate usage case for a tablet, and barely for a laptop anymore.

It does have a dock....

I feel very confident in saying the original poster did not mean a docking station like this. He means like the Asus Transformers where you dock into a keyboard that convincingly turns your tablet into a laptop preferrably with an extra battery. Notice that he says "If this had a true docking solution it would be replace our laptops."

For my uses, after I had the OG Asus Transformer for a while, I will not buy any tablet that cannot dock and go into quazi laptop mode. Once you've tried it you will never go back.

If microsoft had a true lapdock addon for the Surface pro I would buy one today.

I don't understand this. Isn't the surface pro, when used in conjunction with a type cover, BY DESIGN a quasi-laptop?

Not in my opinion. The type cover does not give it stability when sitting on my lap and using the stand is a poor substitute. I cannot use the surface on my lap like a laptop at all- atleast from my time playing with one and using my brother's. Look at pictures of the transformer android tablets, they truly become 99% as useful as a laptop when docked(Excluding android limitations).

Edit: Also the ability to have infinite adjustability of the angle as opposed to the limited choices of the stand

Looks like tigerdirect has them for the same price as MS. No tax for many. Not sure if they are shipping yet.

No, I want the extra battery and ports.

Not to mention the stability. I love the concept of the Surface and would very happily buy one- I just want to not be able to distinguish it from a laptop when docked. Other OEM's have done this and I wish Microsoft would give us one more keyboard option.

The Surface is not for people who primarily need a laptop.

I agree a stronger dock like you are suggesting would be nice. Hopefully they open up the blade to third parties.

I wouldn't use it primarily as a laptop- but when sitting anywhere watching a movie or when needing super battery life- a dock is amazing. Or when you need additional ports... They could even go the route of AMD's failed boost using a fan when docked.

The OG transformer got double battery life with dock- imagine the possibilities of the surface with 12ish hours of battery life- hell even price the dock at 200-250 I'll buy it.

As for posting videos, the Pro 2 has a pressure sensitive stylus, right? I'd really appreciate if you could do a video showing how well it works. ( I dunno, is there a drawing or pen-enabled app that would show it off well?) That's the one thing I'm ultra curious about that could just sway me to get one.

The Wacom digitizer is a big selling point and is supposed to work really well according to Surface Pro 1 reviews.
