Oh man. I wish I could join, but I just don't have enough rack space or amperage to fire up the GPU cluster. 36 cores, 192GB RAM, 24 GTX 680s... damnit. I'm already drawing 11 amps per phase off my 15 amp PDUs.... I'm pretty sure I'll draw more than 8 amps off each PDU for the cluster.

I have opened an recruit thread in the forum:
We have a "In-Challenge"-race going on between BOINC@MIXI (#11), TeAm AnandTech (#12) and Polish national Team (#13). We keep changes places in the stats.
Can we recruit some more crunchers?
We need all the power we can get!

I'll be in with my gpus. As I recall we need to clock down the memory frequency on factory overclocked cards?
Yikes! First WU had error after a minute

Can we get by with any OC at all? Not even a little bit?

It totally varies between cards. GTX550s are particularly sensitive and tend to need to be underclocked. Memory is usually the culprit - GTX 460 768MBs like mine can be nicely overclocked - but shaders can be overclocked too much as well.

Edit: Just saw this in the PrimeGrid chat forum: "chip: the best test is occt gpu, mode - error check". I don't know for sure if it's the best test, but if you get any more failures it couldn't hurt.

Not too much change. We're ahead of the two teams nearest us, at the moment.

First off, I don't think GFN draws any more power than FAH. But maybe you weren't using the GTX 680s on that either?

Second, you should be able to configure BOINC to use only a few of those GPUs, if that helps.

Oh dear errors? It tends to be with temperature, that is the culprit and mess with the needed calculations and math behind. So yes overclocking might be the problem but it is usually the temperature.
EDIT: And I will have a stats spreadsheet ready in a few hours

If all goes well, I'll be delivering 7 WUs within the next 12 hours ... and then? I don't know, the WUs differ quite a lot in run-lengths ...

I have a GTX560 Ti 448 Core. I think that means it is factory OC'ed?

And it erred half way through on a WU that three others erred out on. Should I underclock the memory or ignore that WU?

We're falling a little behind.

I have a GTX560 Ti 448 Core. I think that means it is factory OC'ed?
Not necessarily. The 448 cores version is essentially a faster gtx 470. Compare your clock speeds to stock clocks here.

And it erred half way through on a WU that three others erred out on. Should I underclock the memory or ignore that WU?
I guess it's possible to have a bad WU in GFN, but the chances are extremely low. Stock clock and/or underclock and/or add more cooling (e.g. case fans) and/or turn up your card's fans as high as you can stand them.

Besides the folks running GPUs in this race, has anyone turned in any CPU tasks yet? I'm curious to see how Sandy Bridge/Ivy Bridge and the FX-8000 series CPUs are doing overall. I'm running roughly 80 hours for ~50% completed.

Theoretically, I'll return CPU tasks in 30 - 37 hrs. This is with HT off on an i2600K.

And for me I will theoretically return 2 tasks in 230-270 hours on the C2D P8400 laptop CPU running stock speeds which is 2.27Ghz

I have 2 gpu tasks waiting for validation. Should have another 2 tonight.
I started late to the game so I'm hoping I can get some cpu tasks in before the deadline.
Have an fx8120 and 2 1055t's going.

I've got it running on my 3.6 IVB - 4 tasks but HT enabled. I am getting ~1% completion per hour based on the late tasks I pulled.

SB @ 3.8 with 8 tasks and HT is going at about half that rate, predictably I may turn in 16 WUs for the whole race!

Thanks for joining the race, GLeeM and Uppsala!

I added my 3939K cores to the race. Hopefully they will finish in time.

Thanks for taking care of the stats, Ken_G6 and Peter!

I'm quoting myself, because things happened happily faster.

3 of the first 4 are CPU tasks are done. They took approximately 460K seconds

---Thanks for the stats
---and are we gaining on EVGA???

Windows update in the middle of the night last night. Hopefully I didn't miss too much time. The monitors turning on woke my wife up who in turn woke me up asking if I was just on the computers. My response was no, but now I am going to be.

I'm also late to the game but better late than never.... haven't run PrimeGrid in many years but this seems like the perfect time to get back on board! Looks like we are in a tight race so even my creaky old GTX 260 is bound to help some.

Hopefully my 3 machines can get the CPU work done in time. Looks like the gpu's are doing well. Might have to put the GTS 450 I lent my parents to use...PG doesn't kill the ability to use the computer like F@H does.

Unclear, but at least with the new recruits we're not losing ground to Poland et al. Although we really don't know who has CPU work running.
