suse 10.1 and wifi

My son is trying out linux 10.1 on his pc, and likes it, but the dlink wifi hardware won't work with it... the suse site only has a bunch of ????? by wifi hardware approvals... anyone have any recommendation on what will work?? He's using the kde interface. thanks

I can't give you a definite answer, but linksys networking products' chipsets are usually supported under linux. Buy it at a retail store and you can always return it if it won't work.

The Prism 2/2.5/3 chipset may be in the dlink 122usb and it may be supported. Linux is new to me, so I'm not much help to him. He just wants to learn something new and I encourage him to do so, but getting him back on the net is the first step. How can I get the linux-wlan-ng driver and install it for him??? Anyone? thanks

Also, any tips on where newbees should start with linux?? I figured suse 10.1 would be a good intro, but I read slackware is strong for learning.

Slackware is for seasoned linux users who like to get thier hands dirty under the hood, not for beginners. Not that a beginner can't learn it, it's just the learning curve is vastly steeper.

Some good user friendly distros would be:
Ubuntu
Suse
Mandriva

I haven't used Ubuntu but it's getting really good reviews.
Suse has always had problems with wireless but Mandriva I know doesn't have as many problems and is supported better.

Are there any pci or usb wifi adaptors using the intel 2915ABG chipset?? I'm looking to put it on a desktop and they are all on mini pci cards... is there a way to interface the hardware to pci?? and then, it would be in a metal case with no antenna... any ideas?? thanks
