Todai is alright, but they don't really have a lot of variety for sushi. At least where the ones that I went to. They have a lot of other stuff besides sushi that is good though.

As for the parasites, I had a friend that supposedly got ringworm from eating Tuna. If you think about it, it does make sense. You're eating raw fish, that could be exposed to lots of bad stuff if the fish is not good fish.

Now Todai used to be good, notice the keyword 'used'. I can remember when it was cheaper and had a great selection of food. This includes the other places like Edoko and Osami.

Nowadays my mom visits the local Japanese supermarkets and buys the freshly cut sashimi from the deli. Since I don't eat anything uncooked (that's medium well for me) I buy the crab meat (imitation or something like that, Louis kemp something) from Costco chop it up, mix it with mayonnaise and wrap it up with nori. mmmmmmmm...

Bah, almost all the sushi around CT is crud believe it or not the best sushi in my area comes from 2 places: The grocery deli and um... there isn't a 2nd place that I know of .

Zow, the Todai here is fairly new, has a quarter of the third floor of a new complex downtown,
A third of the walls are glass to the outside and two hundred feet is glass to the interior five
floor deep open plaza inside. The place has dozens of asian folks working behind the counter,
making up at least four dozen different kinds of sushi. And that doesn't count the other half
of the place with the tempura and lobster (cute little sign, "please, only one at a time&quot
and soups and ... Only improvement they could possibly make would be french chocolate desserts.

And, about parasites, last I heard the new standard was IQF (individual quick freeze) of all
seafood to be used for sushi. The freezing forms nasty sharp little ice crystals that slice
through all the cell walls, supposedly killing most every cell from bacteria size on up. But
that might not put a dent in virus particles.

As we used to say when some were appalled that we were eating mushrooms fresh off the truck in
the warehouse, and tried to worry us with comments about what those things grow on, we would
just reply "just adds a little tang to the flavor"
