I just came back from the Costco on the lawerence express way in Sunnyvale. They have the 12 pieces crab meat(not real crab meat, some kind of white fish) sushi for sale at 3.99 cents and it tastes real good.

Hmmm, I always thought the california roll (crab meat sushi) looked odd at CostCo. The rice looks kinda soggy, wet, or really gelatinous. Is it? Anyhow, I go for the real thing at Benihana's (maybe location specific) with their lunch $1 plate specials, 4 California rolls (or handroll) freshly made for a buck.

There's a great sushi place in Toronto call Japan Deli. On Mondays, everything is a BUCK!!! CANADIAN!!! It's located a block west of Yonge and a block south of Bloor, for any TO residing ATF homies.

In Phoenix there's a REAL Japanese rest that has All-You-Can-Eat for 20 bucks. So about once a month I starve for a few days and go there and EAT!

Definitelly get my 20 buckaroos worth!

I'm as cheap as they come, but sushi is one thing I don't bargain shop for.

Did it ever occur to you why that might be only on Mondays? Do you know of any fresh fish purveyors who deliver on Sunday? None. They only work Monday-Friday. So monday's product was delivered fresh on Friday, they tried to sell it on Friday, Saturday, maybe even Sunday. By Monday, it's pushing 4 days old, it's sat out at room temp each day they've tried to sell it, and it's about one step away from going in the garbage. That's why it's so cheap.

Ever had food poisoning from bad fish? I had one friend who ate bad salmon once, he was sick for a WEEK, and he still can't digest red meat more frequently than once every four months. Screwed him up for life.

Be careful...You get what you pay for.

chrisrafter is correct. I was watching a master chef talk about the best days to go to a restaurant and he said Monday is the worst because all their seafood is old from Friday. He said something like tuesday through thursdays are good.

chrisrafter is right i work at this sushi bar fresh fish always comes in on tus and thu , but the chef is a good guy he throw away lots of fish if he think it's not fresh anymore

Dude, Sushi is one thing you don't want to be cheap about. Because there is a big difference between the cheap stuff, and the good stuff. Ever heard of parasites? Ya, those 99 cents suchi rolls that you've been eating could have larva in them, and over time, these larva grow to 6 feet intestinal crawling worms.

If they were selling bad food, I don't think they'd be in business too long! Also, it's not like they have all the food sitting inthe window. They have very fewsamples in the case and make it as it's ordered. I'll keep that in mind though.

I went to dinner with the g/f and my old bosses last week for sushi and drinks. The bill came to $150!!:Q I only had to chip in $25 for a tip. Whew!

month!!! Ewwwwww!

Just kidding. I've been there and the sushi's pretty good.

hmm.. I think sushi rest. is one of thing Canada can beat US.
The cheapest All-you-can-eat buffet I saw is $7cdn, around $5us..
The one I recommend in Vancouver,BC, Canada is $14cdn A-Y-C-E buffet included 6 different fresh oysters choice, yes, no kidding, fresh oysters unlimited, of course included other common buffet choices, like sashimi, sushi,... etc...

$14cdn can only pick up 2 box of American style sushi in US costco.
That's why so many people living in Washington come over to eat their dinners,
But we go washington to buy anandtech good deals (OD,OM,CC,Staples)..
Fair deals ?!

I was living in US, I can compare both, it is always triple the prices in US jap towns for the same quality Jap foods. However, US rest carry red tuner as usual, Canada rest. carry cheap tuner. So, I hardly order tuner here, it really $ucks

A friend has told me that whenever go to cananda, he will go to Jap buffet since their all you can eat price are real cheap, and the have lots of fresh fish, crab and lobster in it.

Check your phone books and see if you have a Todai anywhere near you.
They have HUGE buffets, the one here is 160 feet long and I have done
serious injury to myself. Dinner is about $23 but lunch is half that.
And they don't seem to take away much of the premium stuff during lunch.

AND, go on your birthday, flash your photo id, and your meal is FREE.
There are Todai many places in the western U.S. I've seriously thought
about applying for a job IF I would get free lunches if I worked there.
