How in the hell can they have something available on their website and when you call them they say they don't have it in stock? My first experience with them has been my last. Because of them, my build won't be completed tonight just like I planned. For a comparison, I ordered from four other vendors: Newegg, Monarch, FrozenCPU and Sidewinder Computers. Ordered on Thursday and Friday and got everything by Monday and Tuesday. My 1GB of GeIL memory from SVC is still MIA and I just recieved an email from them (after emailing them myself) saying that my order was drop-shipped to GeIL. Where ever the hell they reside. They give me the impression that they are a mom and pops outfit with a snazzy website. Something told me that the $30 savings would end up biting me in the ass. There's no such thing as a really good deal.

Funny, I ordered this case from SVC, and since the picture didn't show a side window I was SURE that they'd screw up. But lo and behold, a Cavalier WITH window showed up on my doorstep. I guess it just depends.

How? It goes like this. The website is just a little divorced from the real inventory in most places. It's good and bad. It's good that a web based presentation can be made. That's good so you can make an intelligent purchase. It's bad because if the web based application shows inventory, that data may be hours old.

Story: I singlehandedly destroyed my MicroSoft Natural Keyboard Pro. My local Office Depot was showing them in inventory. I went. Sales help and store manager thought I was a little teched. When I finally convinced the store manager that I had the mfr part number and the Office Depot sku number, he looked it up. His display was in view of the customer service counter. Sure enough, there was a Unix looking MACS inventory report.

Notes were in the mainframe program that described the discrepency. MicroSoft had discontinued the keyboard, issued a recall and demanded that all remaining inventory be returned for credit. The store had sent it's few items back weeks before I arrived. It never got related to the website data.

Yep, there are reasons why you see things in inventory on a website that do not acutally exist. It doesn't instantly equate into some sort of deceptive practice.

Never bought from SVC. If they dropship, they are at the mercy of the systems of their dropshippers. This is almost always never seamless.

Funny stuff. TigerDirect used to and probably still does send out backorder notices after the customer has received ordered items.

I am sorry to here about your problems but I must stand up for SVC as They rock in my oppion. Super fast shippments and good prices for the most part. Good customer service have not had to ship back misshipped items yet not expensive stuff but still just keep it and they shipped me the right item free not happening with newegg ship it back at your expence if you want the correct one you ordered. Don't get me wrong I bought a good bit from newegg and will order again with out a second thought but they will not tell you to just keep it.

SVC is a good place to order from and many places drop ship from other places like my Abit MB from newegg came from NJ not there CA store so it is not fair to rip them for that, yes it should say the item will be dropped shipped on there site for the item but I bet most sites don't tell you up front.

I know how it is to want to finish something when the part don't arrive like my CDRW that the store sold/shipped me the wrong drive as lady keyed the wrong part number and I waited 2 weeks to get it then it be wrong and tell me that is what I asked for and charge me a restocking fee plus I paid to ship it back when I needed the drive to finish a system. I know the system would still run but I wanted to backup old system first before I made the HD switch so it really put me in a pinch.

Face it, all vendors have problems on occasion. SVC definitely does more good than bad, and I've ordered from them several times over the years.

How in the hell can they have something available on their website and when you call them they say they don't have it in stock?

BuyXG (Buy Xtreme Gear) is notorious for doing just that.

I've never ordered anything but fans and AS paste but each time they were fast and on target with my order. A rating of 8.8 at resellerratings can't be all that bad.

I would put them right up there with Monarch, Newegg, Zipzoomfly, and Outpost.

I have never had any problems with them. However i wish they would ship via Fedex.

HAH! svc isn't that bad. it's true I just sent them a notice today because the sparkle psu i bought was not packaged so that the peanuts that were broken were gettnig inside the unit. although this had the potential to have been a disaster, it was offset by the fact that i got it for $25 and it came 4 days later from ordering ( live in hawaii). This is issue is something that in my opinion can be expected throughout your whole life. this is an example of human error and while it is stupid, if we let this crap get to us nothing good comes out of it. I empathize with you mrcontroversial you had a build you wanted to do. it's frustrating. I can't say anything else.

Yup, quite often they beat newegg to my door. I order almost all fans, hsf, cables and other stuff there, since their shipping on those items blows away newegg. NEVER had a problem in 5 years. And the worse they did was not have something their site said was on-stock ? Please don;t hold that against them.

I've trusted svc with pretty much half of all the things i buy online ( the other .5 being newegg). Almost always my stuff comes within 2-3 days(based in San jose, cali and i live in socali). Everything is always well packaged and in good condition when it arrives. I recommend svc to everyone I know. Its been 3-4 years since my first order and they haven't let me down yet.

I've generally had good luck with SVC too. Plus it is one of the few places that will send small orders via First Class mail. Saves me a lot on shipping when I just need a small item or other (living here in the sticks of CNY, I have to order just about everything) and gets here quick too. The 400W Sparkle refurb that I ordered came today and it's already in my box helping me to send this to you - it's a heavy mother and chock full of parts, don't know how the air manages to get thru there...

when i first built my system, i had to order my SLK-900A and 2 SATA cables from them, and besides UPS delivering to the wrong address, everything was fine. i dunno what the deal is this time...

Agreed. And they are anything but a "mom and pop" shop. They're warehouse is 16,000 Square feet! (look)

They have an overall excellent rating and every time I've had a question or issue they've quickly handled it. The only real issue I ever had with them was that a 7700CU Zally I ordered came with no mounting hardware, but they shipped me out a whole new one immediately with a check written out for the ship-back cost for the old one. Great service...

i ordered an alpha PAL 8042 p4 heatsink from them about maybe a year and a half ago, it came without the mouting screws, which were supposed to be inside the box. they sent me a new pair via first class mail, when i ordered with priority shippnig. it got here pretty quick, but still. other than that screwup i would say that theyre good and they also use USPS, thats a plus.

It's now Wednesday morning and still I don't have a UPS tracking number... I have a convention this weekend which is 6 hours per day and I won't have time to finish it this weekend. I need to have this sucker done by Friday.
