svhs out to widesreen tv?

If I have a svhs out on a radeon 7500 and I plug it into a widescreen pal tv, what will happen to the display on the tv? will the graphics card still put 4:3 out and the widescreen pillarbox the edges black, or will the graphics card alter the display shape to 16:9? Also when the display is altered to 16:9 is it done by cutting scan lines and expanding the remaining image or by adding more display information to incresase the size of the scan lines? Do you have to do the setting alteration manually? Also is wide screen tv on PAL tv's called PAL Plus? Anyinfo would be helpful thanks.

Your tv should automatically convert the single to be widescreen but you might want to put the display on a 16:9 size. I'm bad at math (dsylexic) so I can't tell you which is which but I know my 1280x1024 is 16:9 and the ones before it is 4:3

i did try running some stuff on the tv off the graphics card and it looks like it is widescreen 16:9 and the tv chops the sides and puts some black bars at the top, it does that even with normal windows screen. 16:9 is 1.777 where as your 21 inch aspect ratio isnt that its 1.25 and 4:3 is 1.333, video eh!

Is your Radeon card NTSC? If it is NTSC and your plugging it into a PAL TV, chances are that the aspect ration will be the least of your worries. NTSC has a vertical refresh frequency of 60Hz, whereas PAL is only 50Hz, leaving you with an unuseable image that can damage your TV if left on for too long. But if your PAL TV can accept a NTSC signal (some can), the image will just have black bars on the sides unless the TV has some hardware stretch feature.

well its a pal video card whoch is their excuse for charging high prices and pbringing them out late, and a 4:3 tv, the tv was in widescreen and had pillarboxing, and edge cuts offs. the monitor streched it veritcally, if you play a dvd - i did la takedown - then you will see that the monitor streches their heads, so the svhs is output in widescreen in the uk.
