Swapping out CPUs the safe way

Just want to get some quick advice - I'm going to be swapping out my AMD 3200+ Venice for a AMD 4200+ X2 Toldeo tomorrow, and I want to make sure I don't break anything as I pull my heatsink off my old CPU -

I need to warm up the arctic silver with a blowdrier so my heatsink doesn't stick to my CPU, correct? I remember reading this somewhere a long time ago. Or is there a better way to do this?

Thanks in advance.

You can warm up the heatsink if you want, but I've never found that necessary. All you really need to do is never lift the heatsink, before you've twisted it back and forth a few times. Of course, I usually run the system for a little while, which heats up the heatsink and TIM a bit, but I've never had problems the times that I didn't turn on the system first.

No, just twist left and right a little as you pull it off. Arctic Silver doesn't stick as much as thermal pads do.

Run something cpu intensive and shut down. Taking it off warm is way easier I think.

I have had the chip pull out stuck to the HSF more than once when cold.

My PCs are always on and running F@H, so whenever I have to take off the heatsink, it's pretty easy Do that ^^
