Was just going to ask how moldable I'd it so we can get ultra HD textures in this or some other type of mods. Guess not.

since it's a multiplayer game not allowing mods is also because of cheating,

I think people do some mods for Dragon Age Inquisition

As far as I'm aware, Dragon Age Inquisition is much more limited with regards to mods than Bethesda games or the previous Dragon Age games.

You'd never find me make a singleplayer game that wasn't extremely modable. Want the whole kit I used to create the game? Sure, here it is....

I mean, if you want to buy my game, then make it better and create more sales for me.... I should pay you... but well.. since you do it for free.... I love you?

But hey, props to the games that do do it. Because those are all games I end up getting and playing. The games that don't, not so much, I always want more detail....

They have community maps and map projects for BF4 and hardline. Not a real mod, but hey, community content is community...

It is too bad the game turned out boring and simplified. A game can have the best graphics in the world (Crysis, Ryse, and now Battlefront) and still be a literal bore to play for any extended period of time.

If DICE was going to radically change the formula from the previous Battlefront games they could of at least Battlefield'd it (no classes? come on). Just ended up with some quasi-customizable FPS with pretty graphics and contrived gameplay. Played the beta and from the reviews so far, little was changed. Co-op is still throw away.

Played BF and BFII for hundreds of hours. Will probably not pick this up.

Yeah this game is getting HAMMERED by user reviews. I'm glad I have no interest in Star Wars, otherwise I probably would have picked it up. I've been a long-time proponent of the Battlefield games, starting with BF1942 (and the Desert Combat mod) all the way through BF: Hardline, and I realize this isn't exactly a part of the Battlefield series but its close to the same. If it were something other than Star Wars, I probably would have bought it and felt short-changed like a lot of others do.

I don't know what people expected. It was clear from the very beginning it was not going to be like the old Battlefront games. It was clear as soon as they said 40 man match is the max that it was not going to be like Battlefield, despite everyone insisting that it would.

The game has some issues but I find it pretty fun. The jungle levels have the multi-level gameplay, the graphics are so good that rebels are actually camouflaged. This is literally the first time I've ever played a game where the graphics were good enough that camo works and makes a gameplay difference.

It's an arcade shooter first, its not a serious "OMG ESPORTS" game like every other shooter seems to be trying so hard to do these days. Why does everything have to be Counter Strike or its crap? Screw that. Counter strike isnt even remotely fun. It was maybe back when it was a mod for Half Life. People also crapped on Crysis 1 multiplayer, which I thought was a great time when it didn't lag...

I like it. It's not the best shooter I've ever played but it doesn't lag like BF4, the Star Wars atmosphere is ridiculously authentic, and the hero characters are cool. IMO 7/10 with potential to get to 8 if they fix the stupid air vehicle control scheme.

Also the game gets a lot more fun once you get into the mid level unlocks. Its much worse in the beginning when the people with no life have already gotten 3/4 through the unlock tree. If you're judging the game after 1 hour of gameplay you really haven't got any idea how the game actually ends up playing. The first few unlocks until you're competent enough to not get destroyed is a pain.

They DID include some single player, just those tutorial missions and the survival missions. But they are amusing and you can farm past the initial few levels to get the basic unlocks by doing them. which I assume is the intended path there, they intentionally give you credits to get unlocks by finishing tutorials and survival coop mode.

Idk of anyone that insisted it would be like the old battlefront. People were hoping against hope, despite the announcements, but we all knew it was going to be a BF4 clone after we saw it.

I don't think anyone is saying the game lack substance because it is not e-sports competitive.

I personally would have liked if DICE would have made an effort to build on the old series. Offering more diverse character classes and additional units from the star wars universe. Part of the allure of the original two was having to adjust your play style to the default classes and the strengths/weaknesses of each.

I think it was a disservice to go with the customizable approach partly because it simplifies the gameplay. And partly because it makes the game like every other multiplayer FPS under the sun with the Star Wars universe as the most redeeming quality. I'd bet that within 6 months, the concurrent player count will be pretty low.

But everyone is entitled to their own opinion, its different tastes that make gaming so great

Yeah see this is why people don't like it. Because they are walking into the game with a boatload of expectations.

I want a real battlefront 3 as much as the next guy, but I know that's not what it is so I walked in expecting it to be some flavor of shooter with a star wars vibe. And it delivered on the star wars vibe in spades and its a competent shooter if not incredibly unique.

They should have called it something other than battlefront because it really has nothing to do with that franchise at all, other than they are capitalizing on the name. If I bought Battlefront expecting Battlefront 3 i would be extremely disappointed as well.

Good point.

I think alot of people knew the dis-continuation of the original BF series was inevitable with this iteration. Though I can't help but judge the game by "what it should have been" rather than "what it is". The gaming market has sure changed a whole heck of alot since the release of the first two, that is for sure.

Played the beta, the graphics and performance were very nice.

But the gameplay is a chaotic meatgrinder. Not for me.

That's fair. It bodes well though if they keep building upon this engine for BF5. Imagine a BF game with even better graphics, this same level of smoothness and now with DX12 API?

Will probably buy this game moment it's <$25. Since I'd have to get two copies. The lack of a single player campaign is why I wouldn't buy it just for myself, but I expect the challenge/scenario things to be entertaining for the girlfriend and me.

You can hate EA as much as you want

I played the demo and liked it but EA/Origin just reset my password, and their reset/retrieval link doesn't work (there are many posts on the 'net about this). I'm not going to set up a new email and re-purchase all my games whenever they want more money from me. Screw EA/Origin.

Have you even tried contacting support?

People don't like it because the game has far less depth and content than battlefield, but is still the same price....

If you just stripped down battlefield and reskinned it, then charge $40 at launch. Don't pretend like it's a $60 game.

I would just contact support and have them call you. You should be able to settle everything over the phone. Before origin came out i made an ea account and bought a game. Didn't buy any other games on the service for years and eventually they became origin. I tried logging in again and noticed my password wasn't working i also couldnt do any kind of password reset cuz the hacker had set up the accounts security questions.... Something the old ea service hadn't had at the time I created the account (for the interested the security question was in russian and google translated it into "what is my dogs name" and surprisingly no amount of cus words were able to unlock my account) anyways i called up support and they dealt with the issue really quickly and relatively pain free. I've had worse encounters with other publishers like NCsoft that wanted proof of purchase for EVERY game i had tied to their service regardless if it was the game i was complaining about.

People keep saying Battlefront is like Battlefield. It is not. It hardly resembles Battlefield. It uses the same graphics tech, yeah, but the gameplay is much different. For everyone that keeps parroting over and over that SW:BF is Battlefield, read this post, then provide evidence that Battlefield is more like Battlefield than CoD.

No classes, no gun mods, card-based special abilities, power-up based vehicles, squads have been removed and downgraded to a single partner, no 64-man matches, no Conquest mode... Does that sound like Battlefield? No. Because it isn't like Battlefield. Battlefront is a lot more like COD than it is Battlefield. Yet another wrong expectation everyone walks in with. Every major gameplay feature lines up with CoD, not with Battlefield.

It's Star Wars CoD with vastly better graphics and sound design. If you don't like Call of Duty or Star Wars you won't like Battlefront.

If you think SW:BF is going to be like Battlefront 1 or 2, you will not like SW:BF. If you think SW:BF is going to be like Battlefield, you will not like SW:BF. If you don't like Call of Duty style games, you will not like SW:BF.

IMO they locked way too much content behind unlocks, with not enough maps, heros, or guns. They did do a good job on the number of different modes though. The unlockable content makes the game feel like it has even less content than the already sparse content it has. The core gameplay is finely tuned and smooth but it just needs more stuff that isn't overpowered stationary turrets. If you didn't get it already, wait until the DLCs have come out and buy the super pack for cheaper. This game will benefit from the DLCs provided they dont crap the bed on level design.
