Sweet Ass Deal On BLACK SX1030 ANTEC CASE

I have this case, and I personally recommend it. Its more like a mid tower, but the 5" drives get quick release rails.

There is also a spot in front of the lower Hard drive rack that allows for another fan.

right now I have 4 case fans in there and everything stays nice and cool.

The only problem with this case is that getting to the motherboard is a real pain in the arse. Once everything gets placed, there is little room for cables. make sure and plan accordingly.

After reading this thread I just went down to Fry's and bought one (a white one) for $98. Onvia is a better deal but I didn't feel like waiting, I didn't really want black, and this way I can return it if I don't like it. Looks like a pretty nice case, and I need room for lots of hard drives.

* For those of you who use this case, how loud is it? I mean, would you say it's pretty quiet, or is it very loud?

* Do you know of other cases that support this many drives (9 or 10) that are smaller or don't weigh so much?

Yeah, the price may be $77.48 but provantage.com is gonna rape you on shipping. I plugged in California and they gave me a shipping cost of $37.65. Onvia.com has free shipping.

Gorda, this case is a beast. (Read: Heavy mother). The Provantage link you give "could" be a great price, but, to show an example for UPS shipping to WA State:

Subtotal: 77.48
Shipping: 22.35
Total Order: $ 99.83

This is what makes the Onvia deal so spiff.

The case I'm actually considering over this one is the Palo Alto Products PA-810 Tower Server/Workstation Enclosure. It's a very similar case. Here are the differences to the SX1030. The PA-810 is:

* ~8.4 lbs lighter
* 1.7" shorter
* one less external 5.25 bay
* $60 more expensive
* harder to find
* better looking, IMO
* no lockout

The main reasons I would chose the PA-810 over the SX1030 are the lighter weight and cooler look, but the SX1030 is in the trunk of my car right now while I'd have to wait a few days for the PA-810, plus it's more expensive.

What do you all think, which is the better case? Are there other cases with a similar drive bay configuration (9-10) that you know of and would recommend?

Onvia actually drop-ship products through resellers across the country. So basically their stock rely on those resellers' stock. I don't think Onvia actually stock anything.

I don't know if this condition has changed. But it was like that when I worked for my previous company.

Never mind about the Palo Alto case, I just found out only OEMs get the case with 4 internal 3.5" bays. The one I almost bought off ajump.com has only 2 internal 3.5" bays.

So that means I'm stickin' with the Antec SX1030. It's just so dang heavy, I was trying to find something a bit more portable that could still hold my RAID configuration. I just hope this beast isn't too noisy.

And what's up with that reset button? Can't even press it with your finger. I can already see my wife shoving pencils and pens in there when Windows locks up. Nice design, Antec, you should ship the case with a paper clip. The indentations next to the 5.25" bays are also pretty ugly, but at least the cover hides things.

I was contemplating ordering an antec ks282 + 300w ps but this is way better and the antec just went out of stock. It will be excellent for the duron & abit kt7 that are coming...an excellent match!

Does anyone know if this will be enough power for both a duron/athlon & a Geforce card? TIA

how long is the power cable from the PS to the mobo... i have an abit be6 and the power slot on the board is pretty much behind the slot... i need to make sure that this will work with my board before i buy it...

check your status at onvia everyone. I got excited when I saw tracking numbers on the status page, but it turns out they just shipped the little cords I ordered in their own boxes. No case

This is an issue that comes up ALL the time. Jump on a deal before it's too late. I don't remember how many times I regret not jumping in on a deal because I hesitated for a day or even hours.
But I wouldn't worry too much about the case. This is something they should stock regularly, unlike those Celeron 566s (or whatever CPU it was).
For instance, I ordered the ps282 when it was on backorder, but they re-stocked it in a day or two and now I have a tracking number and all.
I ordered on of the sx1030 just now. But this is going to be my monster computer, so I'm building it up one piece at a time.
