Check reseller ratings and then don't ever buy anything from TigerDirect unless you are a gambler.

AMDYEHBABY,

Reseller Ratings is a website where users give feedback and evaluations of various vendors. Many people at these forums have complained about Tiger Direct. Although I personally have never had a problem with them, they're not my first choice when it comes to computer parts.

Try Newegg.com...they usually have great pricing and fair shipping.

Best of luck and welcome to Anandtech!

I've ordered from them a few times... customer service sucks. Returns difficult. My advice: If you buy from them, don't plan to return it.

So is this a ok case? I'm tempted as I just got a ECS K7S5A - XP 1700 combo (just went back on sale at Fry's Phoenix for $169 again). The ram seems to make is a great deal. Shipping's a little over $12. The case co's site is at www.bccpc.com.

This one was only $12.48 S & H when I had it in the cart. That's probably about average. Newegg is usually $15.

I think that this deal is still available.

When I go to the tigerdirect web site and search for TC2-3010, the case, floppy, and 128 MB RAM appears to be available for $49.

I was able to add these to my shopping cart without a problem.

It would appear that Tiger Direct is now offering the deal with PC133 RAM instead of PC2100...

loudOne - you must not shop around too much, NewEgg has the best FedEx Saver prices on the 'net!

I got my order confirmation, and in it TigerDirect states they are shipping me PC133 SDRAM. I called and tried to explain that the previous day when I ordered the Web site said that it was PC2100 DDR memory. Apparently, they have pulled the item completely out of their system. I finally persuaded their customer support person to enter a "request" for me to get the PC2100 DDR memory. However, I am not sure that this means that I will get it or not.

Anyone else having this problem?

loudOne,

You've obviously never shopped for anything at Ubid!!!

I'm not saying Newegg has the cheapest shipping around, but it's usually in the ballpark of "fair" and at least they tell you up front what your shipping charges are going to be.

Regarding TigerDirect, I bought a PC from them several years ago. They switcherooed the video card on me and sent a different brand than I expected. I spent hours waiting to talk to someone on their support lines only to have them tell me it's tough. I suppose it might be OK to try buying something if it's just a peripheral that will likely not break or have configuration problems, but DO NOT buy a PC from them (I build my own, now). Their support line sucks.

I would not order from them if you are only gonna save a couple of bucks over a better vendor like Newegg. Trust me, it's not worth it. You might be OK for a couple of transactions, but, eventually, you are gonna get hosed.

Exactly, as many people said above, Say NO to tigerdirect. It is never worth a few bucks if the product dies on you, and you have to deal with pathetic customer service.

It is always a good idea to check resellerratings before you buy from a vendor.

Newegg has very good shipping prices! Many places online will charge 10 bucks per item shipped - insanity. For example nextstephardware, or ussa.com

But newegg can't compare to Z-buy.com on shipping charges(good for cheap, cheap modems and floppy drives) Also Myaopen.com carries a bunch of what newegg has - for example the Aopen KF45A case(better than that piece of junk in) - Newegg wants 39+15 s/h, Myaopen you can get it for just about ~40 and roughly a buck more per item shippedhere

I highly second the notion of caution with TD. Although they have good prices, unless there is something you can't live without, and can't afford at any other dealer, I would pass. If you have any problems, they will not resolve them easily, although if you complain high enough they usually will resolve the issue, but it is hardly worth the time and energy.

Summary, if you will save >$200-300, maybe worth the risk, although research it carefully first. But if not, pass. Reseller ratings is not so hard to get high scores on, if a company cares about customers.
