Hey guys, I just found a Guitar someone was throwing out do to them getting kicked out of the house. I tried to play the strings but the sound isnt loud at all. I turned the volume knob thing to full but it didnt do anything?

Do I need that round fuzz thing to play with or something?

Oh, these things need amps?

if it has a vol. knob and has a large headphone jack on it then yea, your going to need a amp to play it louder then just what the strings can sound.

Is it because it's an electric guitar and you didnt plug it into an amp? if it is, im surprised you haven't choked to death on your own saliva yet

For a helpful answer... Here's some affordable practice amps on amazon. You should be able to find something to make some noise with...

Ok thanks, now do these plug into the Guitar? or do I need an adapter?

Buy a cord also. I haven't gotten one in awhile, but a cheap one shouldn't cost you much money. It has a plug on both ends like a pair of full sized headphones. Is that 3.5"?

There is a 1/4" Plug in on the guitar itself. Now I was wondering, could I possibly use my PC as a temp. Amp if I got a 1/4" Male to 3.5mm Male and plugged it into my Line in port?

Sure, it wouldn't sound that good though. It would be way too clean, and any distortion you got would be displeasing. It would let you know the guitar worked, and you could practice until you gave it up, or got something better.

Eh, sort of. It sounds absolutely awful and requires special software but it's doable. Just check craigslist or the pawn shops for a cheaper used amp. It's kind of an expensive hobby to start so if you have no desire to play then it'd be better to sell or give away the guitar.

Plug it into your MIC port and also make sure any "mic boost" option is set to ON for max volume and fuzzy, warm sound.
