Since you are running Windows XP. Did you try the compatibility mode yet? Also make sure you get any patches that are out for the game.

On brand new games I don't think their going to be Win XP issues. Your hard drive could eb a possible culprit, WB JB's are not know for holding up real well. Another possibilityis something's gone wrong with your memory or motherboard, and if nothing is overheating, then it's gotta be something like that. Also was this happening before you reinstalled Windows XP?

He did ask for suggestions. I just gave a couple suggestions that he can try that all. If these are full retail version of the games besides the COD demo. Make sure you get any patches that are available if any.

Could try running the game at lower Resolution. Plus turn down the graphic details within the game it self. But I would think you all ready tryed that be for you posted your topic.

In his sig it shows Antec Trupower 380, I think that rig is the one he's having problems with not positive though.

Question: did the games work well before reinstal or did the problem present itself before the reinstal? (assuming you mean reinstallation of the games and not the OS)

Question: do any other games run well or is it only these titles? (assuming you have games that use similar graphics engines (like Quake III or Unreal2k3) or APIs like OpenGL or DirectX)

As for your hardware... check for updated motherboard bios and software drivers... LordOfAll is correct in asking for your machine specs... you might consider changing any performance setting to their default in bios and test your memory with Memtest 86... also a deepscan of your harddrive for bad sectors is never a bad idea, just do it when you have the time (same with Memtest 86)... you might consider running various different CPU intensive benchmarks to see if your CPU is ok and consider running benchmarks that test the OpenGL and DirectX APIs... that's the most you can check your hardware i figure... from experience this sounds to me like either a driver or software issue... reinstal directx and uninstal and reinstal your vid drivers to latest version since you tried to use the shipping drivers... try vid driver releases just before the latest drivers to check for stability issues...

That's about all I can think of right now... other than that... wipe the hard drive and start from scratch... but ONLY do this as a LAST RESORT... never give up... *insperational music in the background*... GOOD LUCK SOLDIER!!!

thanks for the tips so far guys, but here is some more info...

ok when i first assembled my system everthing was working great, absolutly no problems ET would go vice city would go, but i got a little crazy on the instals so i dicided to do an xp reinstall. It was only after i partitioned my HD and installed XP again that the problems occured. My system is currently not overclocked at all, i think i got GAT in like turbo or something, mem timings are pretty lax, and my graphics card is not oced at all. I do have all the latest drivers and BIOS on here. What I can't figgure out is that a the games worked flawlessly when i first installed them higher res, high detail, and no problems, and its only after a day or two that the games died on me. ET in particular i could uninstall it, and reinstall the game and it would run fine once and then die as soon as the game is about to go 3d. On a side note, NHL 2004, and HALo run fine, no problems like i had with those other games...

Anyhow, i'll give ur suggestions a go and hopuflly i can figgure out what is goin on..

*edit*

memtest - no floppy (no memtest 86), but i did run sandra's memtest a while back and i think it was ok
scandisk - ok
