I myself would like to know how he got the LED in. It *Looks* like he wired it into the existing one...but that might just be me.
I'm pretty sure one of the modding sites in PhoenixofWater's post (See my sig for link) has a tutorial for changing the LED..might have a tutorial for installing one?

Waiiit..no...I just looked and found out how it's done.
It's a Microsoft optical. Those have a red LED in the back that cut's off when you raise it too high, kinda like the laser. What he did, if you look in pictures 6 and 8, is he just took out the red LED in the back and stuck a blue one there.
Pity, I don't think my lucky IBM optical has that ;[

That mouse fell out of the back of a car once. It bounced and skidded across the asphault, but still works fine.

IU also saw a mod in CPU (Computer Power User) magazine, where a guy did a mod with a small (40mm?) fan and drilled vent holes into the cover of the mouse to cool his mouse hand. He also added 2 LEDs for backlighting I think...
