Swimming Trunks w/out netting inside ...

I've never had trunks w/out netting until the ones I got today. The past ones I've had had the "tighty whitey" netting on them and of course I never wore boxers under.

But these ones do not have any of that netting, and I'm confused if I'm supposed to or not. I know it's up to me in the end but I'm just wondering what you are supposed to do w/these.

I'd probably wear briefs in an ocean or lake.

I've never known why people wear "swimming trunks" instead of regular shorts when swimming - it's one of those things where I think almost all people know why something is the way it is, but I never found out why.

it's the material. it dries a lot quicker than most other materials.

i went in a pool at a 4th of july party w/these shorts I have that are basically sweat pant material. i weighed like 10 extra lbs when i got out of the pool and they took forever to dry off.

I have two pairs of swim trunks, both netted. Unless I'm swimming in the ocean where sand gets in every crevice, I wear boxers underneath. Seems more comfortable to me.

I would wear boxers underneath if I had swimming trunks with no netting.

Swimming trunk netting, to me, is just that-- a safety net mean to protect and restrain any unforseen large bulges from causing any undue embarrasment. With no netting, and no underwear, you are one hot MILF away from having to swim in the far corner of the pool facing away from the crown while you "cool down" thinking of baseball statistics and Star Trek. If you are going to go net-less, and boxer-less, at least keep a picture of Helen Thomas nearby for those extreme emergencies-- but use with caution!

I think your're on the right track. Not sure that the new "board shorts" nowadays are meant to be worn with underwear. Plus, if you do decide to wear boxers or underwear with your trunks, there are many times they are dry and your underwear is not.. just very uncomfortable feeling.
