Cut the cable cord at home... haven't looked back

No monthly payment = boss.

Too bad most savings went to my wife demanding we get a maid... but I guess that was inevitable regardless

DirecTV rententions is starting to suck an egg in "generosity"......and WHEN you DO cancel and the cardboard boxes have been sent in the mail to pack up the equipment, you get a deluge of calls, emails from DTV to stay, giving you better deals (not good enough to change your mind....those $200 GCs are impossible to price match).

Don't these idiots know that by the time a customer cancels, they've already INSTALLED another system?

I think I understand why they do this. There's enough people out there that call and threaten to cancel just to get a better price that they may be doing this to call their bluff. And then once they find out we aren't kidding and will cancel because of their crazy high prices, THEN they decide they'll actually give us a decent offer. Too little too late suckers

I would say "Pay the fee to cancel the new contract I just signed because you didn't offer me anything when I called before I quit".

the pole, cement, conduit and trench of up to 75 feet are included in the dish free installation. does your trench exceed 75 feet?

75 ft from what? Id have to measure but i think it does. Its pretty far back.

I think DirecTv owns more satellites but it may be possible Dish's owned + leased satellite total is greater considering they have "mirrored" eastern and western arc service.

Directv core satelite locations are 99, 101 & 103 degrees. Those locations can been seen throughout the continental U.S. with a single dish. Dish has an Eastern and Western Arc wich is essentially 2 identical systems because neither orbital location can been seen reliably CONUS.

measure the actual path of the trench with at least a tape, a walk wheel would be ideal.

once you have the actual footage, call directv and ask them what distance is included with the free installation. if your measurement is less than the freebie, flip on out.

i can't find my installation manual, and i'm finding several "official" answers online you'll have to ask them on the phone.

DirecTV has outsourced all their installs and service folks to these companies that pay $X set rate to their installers...who provide all the cable, connectors, etc... So, the bigger the install, the less money they make. This causes them to want to charge more because they recoup more of their costs.
