Switched from PC to Mac

Hi All

This is my first post in the forum so I hope I have the format right. I have been a network engineer for some time now and i just made the move from PC to Mac. I am having trouble with the transition. I am looking for the right software to use for a TFTP Server. Mainly loading for iOS on cisco devices. Anything thoughts? Thanks

There's a TFTP server built into OS X. It's easier to "get at" it you're using OS X Server, but it's there. Here's a handy GUI frontend for it:

What gap, exactly? Again - built into the OS.

Visualizing windows and doing it the way you already know might be easier than learning a new method. And he said he's having trouble with the transition so having the option of using parallels for other things might be helpful.

To the OP: I went from PC to mac a few years ago. Currently happy to be using a real PC once again. The Mac is now upstairs for my wife to use Photoshop and the kids to watch Sesame Street.

"PC" did use to mean Personal Computer. That term in itself is OS-neutral. Is a PC running OS X somehow more shared and less personal than with some other OS?

TFTP server is more software and less networking. The software Forum "All things Apple" should have more experts and less "use Windows" readers.

Any server service on any OS basically has three steps:
1. Configure
2. Enable to run in the background
3. Open firewall so that clients can connect

On TFTP the first step is probably figuring out where to put the files to share.
The other two .. on OS X .. no experience, but probably clicking some check-boxes in that awful GUI.

When I made the transition to Mac, I didn't dual boot or use VMs for TFTP I just installed this little gem, and it's worked great for me. I load images onto our network equipment from it all the time. I'm running El Capitan, http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11116/tftpserver
