This guy has some good takes since I found him a month or two ago.

Recently switched to a reference 6900XT from a 3070 for my main a few months back and the 6900XT has compatibility issues with my ASUS monitor, there is no signal over HDMI until I have the drivers installed. Originally this had me stumped and I thought the card was dead but I tested the card on my old DVI monitor which worked for me to install the drivers. So other than having to aquire a DP to VGA cable to access the BIOS and doing some mental gymnastics during graphics driver installs and missing the window welcome screen when the monitor auto switches from VGA to HDMI, the 6900XT has been rock solid. I have used AMD cards plenty in the past but this is the first time I've encountered such a finicky issue. All the recent graphics card I've used which happened to be Nvidia, GTX 1070, GTX 1080 Ti and RTX 3070 just worked with this monitor.

Yes, even dropped cash on a few DP to HDMI with no luck. My monitor is a VX24A. Done some quick googling around and I'm not the only one to encounter this.

I think your mobo needs to be in full UEFI mode with legacy boot disabled and secure boot enabled to get AMD cards to display at boot.

CSM disabled, secure boot enabled. No post with HDMI, or DP to HDMI. Just DP to VGA works, I would assume HDMI to VGA would work too but I don't have one on hand.

Which mobo chipset are you using? I don't have such issues with RX 6800 on Z790. However, with an older Z67 and RX 580, I did cuss a lot due to similar issues.

Chipset is X570. I'm pretty sure it's not a chipset and GPU issue as someone else with a 6650XT and Z690 has the same issue with the same monitor. Also this doesn't seem to be isolated to the RX 6000 series, it goes back to the RX 5000 series as well. Issue mostly appears to crop up with an AMD card paired with an ASUS monitor but not always, other monitor brands can be affected too.

Seems you need to reflash the video BIOS of the card to fix the issue. Pretty extreme.

Thanks, I'll consider reflashing it if I ever upgrade my monitor and still can't see the post screen or enter the BIOS with HDMI or DP to see if that's the fix. Right now it post via VGA and I can see the post screen and enter the BIOS, when it loads windows it auto flips to HDMI, otherwise it's perfectly functional in windows and games just fine.

Love my Powercolor Fighter 6700XT that I got for $350 earlier this year. Chews through almost every game at 1440p at max settings (sans raytracing). Probably been the most solid card I've had in a long time. The Radeon Adrenaline settings have been fun to play with; I wound up settling on using Radeon Image Sharpening at 50% for some of my games and it really adds a nice level of crispness to things, especially games that use a crappy form of AA.

I have an Asus monitor, well ROG specifically, but I connect with DP. I have not tried HDMI, to my understanding DP has more bandwidth anyway. Anyway, I run at 270Hz, no issues with monitor in a while. Though with early drivers on the 7900 XTX I had trouble getting the monitor to run at 270Hz with the overdrive feature, as by default it is 240Hz.
