Thanks in advance, I'm building a server and have already installed Win2k and all of the software, when I install my new 2nd CPU, Will Win2k automatically recognize it or do I need to do some manual configuring too? Thanks again.
No you don't need to reinstall the OS. Go to system properties in Control Panel and make your way to Device Manager. Then select Computer and update the driver from it's current state (probably Standard PC or ACPI-compliant) to Multi-proc PC. From there, You'll have to select from a list of drivers - it won't do it automatically.
I don't know of any specific issues but it wouldn't hurt to reinstall SP2, just to be safe.
The change is pretty straight forward and took me about 5 minutes, includig boot-up time. You shouldn't have any problems as long as your system was running smoothly before the change.
You definitely need to reinstall the servicepack. When you upgrade the kernel, it is going to put the original one in, not the updated servicepack flavor.
