Others said How, but your reason for doing so is about the worst there could be, IMO.

That you just joined and this is your first thread, makes me think something is afoot.

I might be too cynical, but all 4 of OP's posts sound fairly scripted to me.

as far as I can see, all you are doing by boycotting is your own pleasure playing the games. I personally dont have any problem with bespoke options in games, certainly if they create the features and code. AMD is quite lazy when it comes to development with dev's IMO, instead preferring AMD owners and fans to bleat how unfair the world is!
IMO, if you go the budget route, dont complain if you miss out on the premium options.

Man, you better upgrade, then. Those "premium options" aren't optimize for your non-premium Kepler GPU. If you go the budget route, (AMD and Nvidia's Kepler), don't complain because you ARE missing out on the premium options. Kepler is sooo yesterday. You gotta pay to play. Go Maxwell, or go home, homie.

I currently own an AMD R9 295x2 and not even that can handle even the simplest of gameworks options. Will completely cripple performance. Also, what exactly is adaptive vsync and is it an advantage?

Edit: Now it may very well be that the problem is that I'm exhausting my Vram by turning those options on, and it has little to do with the fact that it's AMD. 4 GB goes quick when you are playing in 4k.

Hey, I could give a [redacted] what you play on, and the above is just my opinion, but probably same as most of those that GO PREMIUM!

Why could you give a [Redacted]? I've never understood why people fail to see the logic in the expression "I could give".

Anyway, I assume when you say "GO PREMIUM" you are in fact saying "Purchase the highest performing option"?. I suppose that's a viable option for people with money to burn in the top end, plus it will give buyers a good mix of AMD and nVidia cards...

Enough with the profanity. It is not permitted in the technical forums.

Are the lack of these 'Gameworks options' ruining your gaming experience? Seriously....you have a top-tier card. Play some games and enjoy yourself.

(Note: I would gladly swap my 970 for your 295x2; and I am not a huge dual-GPU fan...)

It can't maintain 60 fps on new games. It's just not quite powerful enough. I'm getting a new card regardless... I'm just deciding on the Titan X (SLI) instead of the 390x in Crossfire.

So you are making a decision before you even know how they compare against each other? Have fun with that, especially if you end up finding out you paid 50% more for similar performance.

what.

What resolution are you playing at? What CPU? Your 295x2 is faster than a Titan X. It sounds like something is wrong with your card, or you're playing at 4k.

Either way, wait for the 980 Ti to drop. 390x -> 980 drops in price. 980 Ti comes out, 390x drops in price.

Yes I'm playing at 4k. It's running out of Vram causing stuttering. Not smooth at all. If I stand still it can hit 60 but as soon as I start moving and new areas need to be loaded... stutter. Two Titan X's should fix the problem nicely. 12 GB of ram as opposed to 4 GB. My mind is already set on the Titan X because of that Vram... the 980 Ti will most likely only have 6 GB. Question is, will the X drop in price?

Edit: CPU is I7-4930k Hexacore

SolMiester, if that's as far as you can see, you can't see very far behind your green glasses. Peace.

"IMO, if you go the budget route, dont complain if you miss out on the premium options."

Try harder next time.

Bye

Was he suspended because it was negative towards the individual or Nvidia?

It's none of your business. Stay out of it.

Are you graphing VRAM/CPU/RAM usage to prove this? Because disk loading speeds can cause the same issue, as can maxed out CPU time caused by having to load other areas.

I don't see the Titan X dropping price until the next Titan is out...

Titan X SLI is a great (albeit expensive) 4K solution. If you want 4K resolution on modern games, you gotta pay to play. It should work nicely. Expect ~50% more performance or so, depending on the game?

PhysX is really sweat imho and so is the drivers where they come out more frequent for games that is trippel A at launch. You also get a better cooler if u going stock, TXAA is really bad imho in image quality and performance but FXAA is super fast and crisp without almost any performance cost. Latley nvidia been better for new fresh games like FC4, AC:U and Project Cars. SLI is still bad but so is CF, software solution is no solution imho. AMD is by no means bad, but i would never buy one myself.

I really want to buy AMD just for the price/performance ratio. I just can't give up adaptive vertical sync. I use it all the time on every NV GPU I've owned in the last few years. I've tried Radeon Pro on an HD 7950 I have, but on my Dell U2412M it causes screen tearing towards the bottom of the screen in almost every game I use it on. Could just be my specific monitor, but I like that monitor and don't want to get rid of it. PhysX is kind of nice too - have about a half dozen games that use it. I could live without it, but not adaptive vsync.

dave1029, just saw your cpu specs. What price range?

Sounds like TitanX territory!

I'd wait for the 980 Ti to be released. Rumor has it, it will have the same performance of a Titan X but less memory and a much cheaper price.

Personally, I would wait to see what AMD has to offer and see if they stack the HBM memory. Seems like the biggest problem you are complaining about is the memory and while the Titan X is a great product, you may be able to get similar memory configurations with higher memory bandwidth with the AMD card due to the HBM.

But who knows the AMD could be a crappy product. It might blow the socks of the NV products. Nobody will know until the product is released and it seems to only be a month away and then we'll all know.

You might regret the purchase if you bought it today when another product is so imminent. I know I would. I'd have buyers remorse just buying a titan to begin with, and it would only feel worse if AMD had a similar product/superior product for cheaper. But if you have the money and want it now, then of course pull the trigger, I'm sure you'll be plenty happy with it.

You must be thinking of crossfire for older AMD cards. The 290/290X/295 have the best implementation of multi-GPU configs of any cards out. Lowest latency, highest scaling, and smoothest gameplay. It also has way more bandwidth than SLI, which helps at 4K.

Older AMD cards (Like the 7970 and such) use software CF and do still have some issues, and does not work with DX9. But it is way better than it was.

4k is your problem, aside from any issues that a dual GPU may have. Vram usage doesnt mean absolute vram required, the game may get by with much less vram than allocated. Chances are your card (or any card) just running out of GPU power at 4k.

I believe this is a gameworks title (?), GTA 5, look at 4k performance, 295x2 > titan x:

I'm pretty sure it's VRAM based on the issues I'm having. See, it's not a frame rate issue. Most games are running at "60 FPS" but it's not smooth. Great on a benchmark, but it just isn't smooth. And I know it's not regular ram or my hard drive because I'm running 16 GB at I think 1866 and a Samsung 1TB SSD. I've always heard that one of the issues AMD has, is that while the frames are usually on par with Nvidia equivalents, it's almost always not as smooth.

Well, 295X is bit of a faster card than the Titan X, so if you're actually getting a single Titan X, then you won't be doing much of an upgrade.

GTA IV has a section in its options that shows you how much VRAM you're consuming in the options. Though, you're better off using Afterburner's if you think you're running out of VRAM. I'd say you're running out of GPU power before VRAM because I own a 980 and that is what has been happening to me for a long time. But you may of course be running out of VRAM as well.

As for Nvidia's options, I just upgraded my UHD TV today to one with 3D, and it's a bit nice. Though, with HDTV 3D you're limited to 720p at 60HZ for gaming, which blows.
