Swype has turned to massive crap

Any other users suffering through the past month on the latest update?

Blackbird theme looks great (I already know where all the special symbols are), adjusting long-press duration is a godsend, but having massive lagspikes and minutes-long periods where I can't freakin' type is totally unacceptable. It was never this bad even in the worst phases of beta, and that was on hardware 10x slower.

Turned off Living Language, but still getting blasted at times. Wtf.

Anyone have an apk of the last 1.5 version?

I've had no problems with Swype. I've been having issues with the AOSP keyboard on Android so I went back to Swype and it works fine on my custom 4.4 rom.

Weird, I haven't had the pauses, or at least no more than older versions (which was also very very rare). Maybe it's machine specific?

I absolutely love being able to change the keyboard height in the new one. Wish they'd let you cut down to below 80% though.

People still use Swype in this day and age?...

Both Google keyboard and SwiftKey have the same swiping capability now.
When Swype had a monopoly on swiping it was okay to use back then, but now there's no need.
I don't see anything in particular that Swype offers me over Swiftkey or the Google keyboard, so I stopped using it.

clear that app's cache. I definitely had that problem, clearing cache fixed it. Might have cleared data too. I think I did.

It will, but unfortunately it's your only choice. Swype is a lot better for... well, swiping, than either the stock keyboard or Swiftkey (bought it recently and used it for 2 weeks to find out), but it definitely performs like crap after a while and the only way to speed it back up is to lose all of your words. I've been seriously tempted to switch back to the stock keyboard or to Swiftkey but even with that limitation Swype is still better if you're a heavy swiper.

These days the stock keyboard is arguably better than Swiftkey for swyping and is probably my second choice, though there's a lot that Swiftkey can do that it can't.

If you have it synced to your account online, it will redownload it when you link it back up.

I ditched Swype a while ago when Swiftkey started Flow. Swype was pretty good when I first used it but it's autocorrection and prediction seemed to get worse over time. Swiftkey is much better than Swype was when I left it, and things like long-press duration have been an option for a long time. Why use a keyboard that's playing catch-up with their feature set?

See, for me Swiftkey was more accurate than Swype which is why I switched. I'm a heavy swiper and still prefered even the Swiftkey Flow beta to whatever Swype version was out at the time. But to each their own... that's why it's nice to have choices. It's things like this that remind me why I should stick with Android, even though I do get frustrated and think about ditching it at times.

i have the swype feature on my android, haven't used it. too thrilled with the speak to type function to save me from auto correct spelling, lol - which i have to do anyway since the phone types what it thinks it hears.

I personally use swipe because it has the most complete language. Where SwiftKey doesn't have the languages that I use.

things that piss me off:
1) If you swype correctly, but too fast the words will get messed up. How does this make sense? I have "show complete trace" checked too, so i can actually see my perfect swype, so no idea why it chooses the wrong words.

2) Double letters usually come out opposite for me. If i diddle the o when writing too, ill get "to", and sometimes when i just swype from t to o itll give me too. WTF? Same thing with any words that have letters that repeat.

3) MY GOD PLEASE LET ME REMOVE WORDS I WILL NEVER SWYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are so many stored words, that I did not even know were words, or acronyms and other BS. I i ever actually did have to enter them, I wouldnt even bother because I would have figured it wasnt a stored word, and just typed it in instead of swyping it. If you really want a weird word like that stored, then add it to the dictionary. But at the very least, let me remove bullshit words that I will NEVER use, that it thinks im typing all the time (cant think of any at the moment).

I had a temporary problem where it seemed to think I hadn't paid for the app (which I did when it came out of beta), and a popup said something like "You can't Swype now, pirate!"

I switched to the stock Google keyboard for a couple of days, then switched back to Swype, and it's been fine ever since.

I find the swiping experience inferior on Google, so I was glad to have Swype running again.

Found a TiBu of the old version apk. Yay. Tried the others: swiping still isn't as good.
