It's roomy, that's for sure. I told my husband the comment about surviving WWIII and he shot back, "yea, you could hide in it." Had to laugh! Actually I rely on these forums and choose this case because of the cooling, and the best rated power supply for Athlon's. I'll definately have lots of working room. I have chosen all my parts thru Anandtech and these forums and can't wait to put it all together now! Thanks to everyone in these forums.

Wackiest pricing I've ever seen.

One 1030 is underpriced at $72. The 1030b (only difference being its black), is overpriced at 176. (Usually five dollars more or so.)

Anyone who needs a largish case, the 1030 or 1030b (I like the black myself) is an awesome case. Definitely go for it rather than the 830. They are the same size. Both 20.5 inches high. Standard mid towers are about 18" high. Full towers are usually about 24 high -- and are really unwieldy to move about. Forget lan parties with thos. These two cases are sort of a hybrid super midtower. Nice size. Great for a real muscle system. (Or its fine as a server case too.)

But the 1030 has a lot more drive bays. The 4/2/4 drive combo is killer. Plenty of room to stuff both removeable and hard drives into. It will also take a somewhat oversized Xenon dual processor type board. Which means when the 760mp's come out, you can be considering it ...

I've got a 1030b on its way to me. Cost me about 145 with an upgrade to the Antec 400W power supply (for those dual processors). I think this will be my permanent #1 system case.

I suspect the $72 price for the beige 1030 is an error. If you want a beige case and you are fine with 300W, JUMP on it. You will never see a 1030 selling for less. (And you may not see them sell it to you for that price, but try.)

I received mine yesterday...This is the first sx830 I've seen with the extra drive cage! Nice addition!...Hope the rest of you get yours soon..

As for these case in the DC area...I saw Antecs in the COMPUSA in Glen Burnie. I'm sure since they supply Antec's they could get you one. Didn't notice the model #s though. I was a lucky one who picked up the Onvia $49 case with 300w PS and free shipping. Got it Wednesday.

I got my Antec SX1030b today.

Damn this thing is boss!! By far the best looking case I've seen. A black beauty. The pictures didn't lie!

The build quality is real high. The two x 3 drive slide out 3.5 in drive cages are boss. They both have quick release levers, which is real cool. Since it is way easier to add the mobo, and stuff on the upper end of the mobo, such as the cpu and memory, with the cages out, no doubt. Couldn't be easier to remove those cages. Yet very solid once the lever is clamped down. Nice. One of them, for the main hard drives, has a nifty place to slide in an 80mm fan to cool your drives. Took me a few seconds. Cool. The plastic cages for adding two additional front intake fans to the two stock rear blow out fans work great. I slipped some of my extra 80mm fans in no sweat.

The slider system for the 4 5.25 drives also looks real convenient. Srew thim into the sides of your drive, pull the power and ide cables through and connect from in front, and then just slide the drives into their bays. There is even a holding clip to hold 5.25 drive sliders inside the case which you aren't using. So you don't loose them.

I LOVE!! this case.

Now when, oh when, is my DDR mobo going to go on sale?

Dougjnn and darkclouds where did u guys get your cases from. I almost ordered anothe SX1030 the day before Onvia went to the darkside. Now I'm trying to find a good deal.

Check out the links at the top of this thread. Lowest prices I have seen for the 1030. I ordered mine before this thread came out. But I also wanted to and did swap the 300w for a 400w power supply. And I wanted a black case.

Antec is now releasing a SX840 and SX1040 case. These appear to be just like the 830/1030 counterparts except with a 400 watt PSU in place of the 300 watt unit. Here is a review I found via a link over at HardOCP:

The website suggests more availability on the sx830, as there is quantity of 80+ at $66 and change. If they ran out of stock on you, check by again. I just chopped one of those boys down.
