I'm looking for an easy to do window mod. I saw one on coolerguys.com, but was wondering if there is any other places? What tools should I use to do this? Dremel? Jigsaw? What bit should I use for the dremel and what speed if I use it? Any place locally (walmart, etc) that I could get the stuff from? I was also thinking of putting in a Neon or black light.

Thanks

the easiest way to cut it would be a jig saw, which is what I would use unless you have something realy intricate, then go with a dremel (reinforced cutoff wheels and grinding stone).

You can get everything you need localy... For the plexi, use Lexan or acrylic (Lexan is stronger but scratches easier).
Depending on the size if the window, the lexan will run $6-12... acrylic $2-5... then use car door trim for the molding. I picked up box of 50' for $17 at a locl auto parts store, but I know you can get smaller sizes at autozone, pep boys, wallmart etc.

After reading a million things on case mods and not wanting too spend more money on the tools then on the actual mods, i think im going to go with a dremel, but how exactly do you cut curves with one? do reinforced cut off wheels do them? How exactly do you cut with a dremel anyway,do you just keep lifting it up and cutting thru inch by inch or do you use it like a jigsaw? I havent bought one yet im just trying to get it all figured out beforehand. http://www.dremel.com/productdisplay/bit_template.asp?SKU=426&Color=CC0000

Yeah I am wondering the same thing(about the dremel). What about making a perfect circle for the window?

Is there is good mod kits? I have seen some on coolerguys.com and 2cooltek.

Any other thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks

hey guys go the jigsaw route, tape up the bottom of the runners
or the case so you don t scratch it, then just do the shape you want
then cut your acrylic like 2inches bigger all the way around put molding
all the way around,i can get ya guys some for a $1- a ft then get some clear
liquid nails run a bead then put weight on it for a day and your done,if your using
a kit you have to be a lot more exact with the cutts but the choice is yours
just have fun

I am leaning toward getting a dremel because they can do drilling and grinding down of sharp edges all in one tool, and i cant afford to buy other tools....

I could take you up on that 1$/ft thing too, one question tho, can you cut the acrylic with a dremel too? i want to put a fan or 2 over my cpu and graphics card like they do here. Let alone shape it in the first place.

What's the best blade to use with a jigsaw? I bought a fine tooth blade that was intended for use on thick metals and hacked an old case up for practice. I don't like the way it cut. It takes forever and it's kinda messy. Curves were really hard to cut, too. I want a window, but I don't want to ruin the side of my case in the process...
