I received notification that the episodes were available yesterday. I watched most of episode 1 but I was having trouble getting back into it so I'll try again later.

"Prime Video" on my phone gave me a head's up that it was available. I haven't started it, yet.

I saw something that indicated Season 6 would be the last season a couple or so weeks back.

Don't want to read through the whole thread for risk of spoilers, but for those of you who've read the books, how do does the show hold up? Obviously there will be quite significant differences.

I'm on book 7 of 8 (until 9 comes out) and plan to start the series once I'm done.

It as faithful as you can expect a TV translation to be. My biggest gripe is that season 2 really rushed into the gate discovery. They thought it was the end of the show so skipped a bunch of stuff to get to that point in the story.

I'm wrapping S4 so I can start this season. I'll probably wait till all of the episodes are released then start them. I still have the Mandalorian to fill my time. Looking forward to it. If Season 6 is indeed the last season, that'd be a bummer.

The material covered in season 5 so far is from my least favorite part of the books. Hope they hurry through it and get to the much more interesting stuff that starts to happen after. Also hope it’s not one book per season, I think they could potentially do the story justice if they cover the rest.

I don't know how I missed this show but I'm only 3 episodes in on Season 1 and this is off to a good start. Good episodic sci-fi with solid production values? Sign me up!

That last episode was very good and I'm also wishing that they'd just released the entire season for us to binge watch. The same can be said for the Grand Tour. IDK why they decided to stretch things out rather than just make them all available from the onset.

Either they had post-production issues due to Covid or this is a model future streaming services might start to follow in order to curtail folks from subscribing for 2-3 months, binging everything they want, canceling and rotating in a different service - rinse and repeat.

Doesn't stop you from subbing once the last episode is out. However what it does do is get people talking about the show more. There is a lot more engagement over a period of time when people go on forums to discuss the latest episode or speculate on what is next. That happens over the course of months rather than a couple weeks and then having people ignore it for another year. Dropping all the episodes at once inhibits discussion as you never really know where the activate fans are in the season and you have to be super careful with spoilers, etc.

Really? I'm kinda digging the four character's storylines with them all split up. After watching episode 5 I just wanted to watch a couple more episodes immediately, but no can do

Today's episode was pretty slow. Not much happened. Mostly Naomi family drama. But man, with a new bigger TV watching this in 4k HDR, this is one pretty show. That made up for the slow episode, but they need to pick up the pace a bit.
