I thought Kubrick did a great job with the lack of sound in 2001. Still, we are catering probably to a different crowd. I'm almost thinking of buying the books the show (Expanse) is based on just because I hate waiting.

Very different feel, actually suited the cinematography wonderfully, not to mention feeling so natural for Kubrick anyway.

From what I've heard, I'd honestly start at the beginning. They pull some stuff from other books out of order, there's stuff in Season 1 that was pulled from the second book, and I think some stuff that hasn't even been brought up yet that was in the first book. Not entirely sure on the latter but I have seen confirmed the former.

I had planned to get caught up, so to speak, by reading the first two if not the first three before season 3 aired. I'm not sure I'm even going to get around to starting the first book - so many things on my plate, so many other things I want to read and can never make time for (too addicted to the moving pictures).

Ok will do, I remember when saw the movie the Firm. Than later we listened to the book on a long road trip it was kinda cool to have faces for all the characters. Fortunately the movie and book were pretty close. except the ending with the book having a much better ending. Helped me keep track of characters.

Honestly, anyone who reads will nearly always find the book better than a tv/movie adaptation. The book has to be quite terrible for me to think it wasn't better; no matter how great the show.

I joke in saying that I think Game of Thrones (HBO) is better than the book(s), but in reality I don't get to really say that because I only read like 100 pages of the first book. I never got back around to it, he just dragged on. So while it didn't satisfy me whereas the show does, I also didn't actually read through the whole thing, not even half, so I can't judge on story but rather the writing itself.

Thanks for the bump, forgot about this show. I REALLY liked it though, even with it being cheesy at times. Love me some Naomi, the shaved side of head is hot. Was glad when the re-upped the next season. Hopefully new one will be good. Not my fav, but one of the tops. This and The 100 are good shows that are not A listers.

What we learn from this is in the future there are just as many assholes as there are now. Seriously I like this series but I thought we would of weaned out the assholes by then, like we have nice friendly dogs now. Guess that means we have to prevent the assholes from breeding.

I'm reading them now. I think s1 and s2 cover about the first two books. I'm about halfway through the second. Things are a bit out of order and the whole politics angle you get in the show is mostly absent so far. Far more focused on the crew. Maybe by the end of the 2nd we'll get to some new material.
