Symantec upgrade confusion

q:when SEP 12 will come and can we directly upgrade to sep12 from sep11mr4.

a:There is currently no supported migration path FROM SEP 11.0 - this is because as stated we believe that customers who have SEP 11 running now are in general happy OR they need more than SEPSBE 12.0 will be able to give the

We renewed our license in Feb through a vendor, paid and all. On Thursday we stopped getting definitions.... Flipping idiots didn't update their records that we are paid up, so all weekend our users got a shitload of spam. I dont normally care, but I got tired of 60+ emails from users bitching about a little bit of spam.

the main issue with SEP SBE (SEP 12 has both SBE and EE) is that you upgrade and LOSE features....urgh

What do you guys not like about the product? We are in the process of evaluating a replacement for Kaspersky and this is on my list. Currently running a test with a few machines and it seems to work fine.

I used to use their corp edition a few years ago at my previous position and didnt have any complaints. Curious why you dont like this product.

SEP and The old corporate SAV are different animals.

SEP has been absolutely apalling with respect to performance, with such basic features such as client-push not working, and constant issues here in there.

While performance and stability have improved on modern desktops (pretty stable and quick now), you still need a dual core machine with 2GB of ram or it runs like molasses.

While MR4 (haven't tried MR4MR1) is decent, I couldn't willingly recommend this product to anyone due to its continued past failures. The potential is there, and much of it has been achieved, but at too high a cost.

Heard good things sabout TrendMicro (management wise / heard accuracy isn't that great)

we use trendmicro server product, been pretty good so far. we started using it years ago when most of our customers (govt entities) were using it. after having many, many probs integrating with symantec and mcafee, it was an easy choice. ive only gotten compromised once, and it was from inside (by an idiot) email
