Radioshack has this for $749 after a $300 rebate. My brother in law bought this for his office and was very happy with it.

It is only good on Thanksgiving and the day after. Nov 25th & 26th only!

Over at FW, I believe someone said this is pretty much about the same as the 30 inch screen if you mainly use it to view DVDs. The 30 inch model supposedly has 1 inch bars on the top and bottom of the the screen and has more of a 15:9 aspect ratio instead of a true 16:9.

Other than that TV is the same. Same shipping box and supposedly even same chassis/components/acessories.

IMO, this is a better deal for those that will be using the screen mainly as a TV.

FW also has a 1.1% discount or so or if you have a citibank card 5% (merchant network).

Braxus, Are you saying that the screen size is about the same as the 30" model? Also, does anyone know if RadioShack takes in-store returns from Online orders? I would want a cheap option to return it if I don't like the picture. This seems very HOT for an LCD TV!

1280x768 for 30 inch, 1280x720 for 27 inch.. 48 extra lines of resolution that goes unused in the 30 inch model for 16:9 viewing which translates to black bars on the top and bottom (supposedly about 1 inch).

Just passing on info that I've been reading on various forums.

No. They are in the same exact case but the 27" is obviously smaller. I'd be all over this deal if I didn't buy the 30 " Olevia from Microcenter last week.

Anyone dealt with a radioshack.com return? It says in there policies that they prefer you to mail it back but if you take it to a store they will take it back. I dread to think of the return shipping on this puppy.

BTW, free ground shipping on this item makes it even sweeter.

Hot. Already bought the Olevia 30 and out of money tho. If you get a beige remote control, call up Syntax and ask for the updated silver and black remote.

Just got the latest PC Mag and they review the 30' lcd from this company and give it a 4 rating. This is a great deal for the money. Also Ecost is selling it for the same price.

Ecost has no rebate form for this set on their website. If you click on the rebate form it comes back with a rebate form for a completely different product.

The rebate form is here. for both 27 and 30 inch. Last day for rebate is 26th! If used with the 30 inch the cost is 1250 after rebate, which seems pretty good.

The Olevia standard 1 year warranty is pretty good. When you fill out the registration card you get one year ON SITE warranty coverage for free. I got my 30" at MicroCenter and I'm happy with it. Mine has 2 dead pixels, one in the bottom left corner and the other in the top right. Disappointing but they're not in the middle. 5 dead pixels is their limit IIRC the Syntax website. Mine also did not come with the accessory box (remote, power cable, VGA, manuals, warranty reg.) but I called Syntax and I had it in about 36 hours.

Additional coverage through Syntax per Warranty Service Activation Card:
Basic Tier: excluding LCD panel
1 additional year (2 total) $99
3 additional years (4 total) $199

Premium tier: Including LCD panel
1 additional year (2 total) $299
3 additional years (4 total) $499

Going with the retailer's warranty would be better, if something goes wrong with it in the future you could probably get something VERY nice that's in stock in a few years from now. I passed on both Syntax and MicroCenter's warranty offers.

Is Syntax any good ? Never heard of them before. I'd kinda rather spend an extra hundred or 3 to get a brand I know like Sharp or something.

its a lot more than an extra hundred or three, its more like 500 plus. reviews look pretty good on it, they actually sell them at lots of places, target, radio shack, stapes, hhgreeg, tigerdirect, outpost, etc etc, i read many good user reviews, saying they gambled on it and it was worth it, and worst, case is it stinks and return it.

I own a Syntax usb memory card reader and although it's a bit different than buying an lcd tv, I've had no problems with thus far using it every single day. Most syntax products I've noticed are cheap in price and not necessarily cheap on quality as I can atest with the product I own.

Something to also note... Your credit card company may offer a free 1 year ext. warranty.
