A great entry level LCD, from what I've read at AVS. Syntax has just released a new round of $100 rebates. $1458.01 after rebate is the lowest price I've found.

I am really close to buying this set. I have no idea where I could actually get a look at this set in person, however, so I will be buying sight-unseen. I cannot find a Syntax web site, so I cannot search for any dealer locations. I do know my local Target does not have any models on hand.

Unfortunately I do not have a CompUSA nearby. Thanks for the idea, though. I probably should just get an idea of how I like LCD's in general and decide from there.

Oh yeah I forgot to add, MicroCenter has a 37" LCD in an add, for $1199 after rebates ($200 instant, 200 mir) and some are reporting they are the HVS Syntax Models. Another option if you are nearby a Microcenter.

Thanks, everyone! Unfortunately I don't have a Fry's OR a Microcenter nearby. Leaving in southern Minnesota kind of precludes me from all of it. There is a Microcenter on the North side of Minneapolis, but I'd like to see an actual add scan before pursuing that. I don't see any Syntax reference on their web site.

I just called the St. Louis Park, MN, (actually WSW of Minneapolis) Microcenter. 19 in stock. $1499 - $300 rebates ($200 + $100). With sales tax it will be nearly $1300. I'm just trying to determine if it is worth 2 1/2 hours of driving and around $10 in gas to save $80 (AR) on the buy.com price. The advantage would be that I could hopefully see the TV in action before buying.

The 2 1/2 hour part is keeping me away. 2 1/2 hours to save 4% isn't too enticing. Yet seeing the set in person may be enough reason. Although I'm going to Vegas tomorrow and it'd be nice for buy.com to just deliver it to me when I get home next week.

I did think about the Westinghouse. However, I just didn't like what I was reading about it at AVS Forums vs the Syntax. Don't remember the details or anything. Figured my just-purchased-TV is going to be my second tV in 2-4 years, 1080p really wasn't a huge deal.

You guess correctly. I'd also prefer they be removable, though to be honest they are pretty unobtrusive - from any reasonable distance they don't look very speaker-like.

The Sceptre 37" LCD @ Costco is nice for $1600. Costco's return policy is worth the premium as well, and 1080p is :thumbsup:
