When I upgrade to a new Ivy Bridge machine, I'd like to donate my old machine to a non-profit. I want to nuke the machine and put it back to raw factory install. No user accounts.
Is there any until like "SysPrep" on Windows? Or is there a diff procedure I need to use during re-install?

Before you do that you might like to crank up Disk Utility and secure erase the HDD. Not relevant if it's SSD.

Grind the hd to dust. Nothing will make it unrecoverable.

A 35 pass Zero-ing is going to make it effectively unrecoverable unless you are going up against someone with the resources of the government agency of a major nation.

However, you are correct, if you want to be totally sure, nuke it from orbit*

*Pound it with a hammer, break the platters into itty-bitty pieces, pee on them, and then light the shards off with thermite

you could offer it without a hard drive - they could buy their own and use the install discs to set it up for themselves.

In all of the above cases, if you're that concerned about security you wouldn't be using the Fisher-Price platform in the first place. Just secure erase it.

I would point out that sysprep doesn't do what you describe. It just removes the security and identity information for the OS (for imaging.) It would leave all of your private information right where you left it.

You need to reinstall from a base image / CD.

Ok, I see I didn't make it clear what I want to do. I fully intend to wipe the drive and reinstall from the ground up. I want it to be in " customer delivery" mode the way you can do with a SysPrep Reseal. I want it to run the new customer setup wizard, the way the machine comes the day you buy it. Is there a way to do this?

Run the restore CD / internet recovery, shut it off when it reboots.

OK, then do this:

1. boot from system disc that came with it.
2. launch Disk Utility from the menu bar
3. highlight your hard drive
4. erase, writing zeros. choose multi-pass for more secure erasure. be aware this will take a long time the more passes you choose.
5. when that's complete, quit disk utility and proceed with install
6. after it reboots, eject the disc and power off.
7. done!
