It's time to build a new PC. 99% of my intensive PC time is spent in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

It's been three years since my last build, so I'm pretty out of the loop. The remaining parts I need to order are hdd, processor, motherboard, case, power supply, and ram.

A little while ago I was looking around at the following components, but they're probably out of date by now:

Antec Performance One P180B
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB
CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 620W
OCZ Flex XLC 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
EVGA 122-CK-NF63-TR LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield (I am aware of the upcoming price cuts, but I may have to order this weekend)

Currently at the Egg, these come out to ~$1210. With these six components, I'd like to stay under $1400.

Any thoughts? I'm sure someone at least has a comment on motherboard or ram (which I'll upgrade to 4GB whenever Vista x64 is ready for me). Thanks for any help you can provide!

Dump that motherboard and get one with an Intel chipset.

What video card will you be running? I see "99% of my intensive PC time is spent in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign," and I don't see any gaming.

If no gaming, then you certainly don't need a 620W Corsair PSU.

I also agree on the memory, 4GB of DDR2 667 on the cheap...

... especially if you are not going to OC. But even so, you can get a mild OC with that memory.

Unless it has changed with CS3 Photoshop will chastise you for not having two physical disk drives. I do so I cant tell. Swap file is moved to the second drive as recommended by Adobe.

8GB of memory if at all possible, especially since you'll be moving to Vista. 4GB minimum - it's cheap enough.

You want more storage space. 320GB isn't enough, especially if you "download".

If you want a quiet case, go with the P182.

PSU is fine.
