I'm building a new computer how do these stats sound. I am looking at keeping the system price down, but looking for lots of speed without spending a lot of money. I came up with this:

AMD Athlon64 3500+ (0.13 micron )
ChainTech nForce4 Ultra motherboard
1GB Dual Channel CORSAIR XMS, PC3200, Xtra-Low Latency 2-2-2-5
74 GB WD Raptor drive 10,000 RPM SATA - 8 mb cache
300 GB Maxtor Diamond10 SATA 7200rpm - 16mb cache
ChainTech 256MB Geforce 6600
A-Top XBlade case with 450 watt power supply
56K Fax Modem
--------------------------------------------------------
Total: $1306 (includes shipping and handling)

I already have the OS (XP Pro), 16x dual layer DVD burner, and a floppy.

How does this system sound? Think it'll be fast?

I actually want the Athlon 3500+ 90nm processor. I'm not really a gamer, I just prefer something fast.

I wish that I had known about this thread... I would've posted my specs in here to see what kind of reaction the system would get.

Is it possible to erase a thread on these boards? I'm probably going to end up posting the specs in here too.

I'm considering getting a new socket 939 board to use with these older components:

Antec True Control 550W,
Corsair PC3200LL TwinX v1.1 BH-5
Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro,
Lian-Li PC-60USB Case

I know Asus A8V deluxe and MSI have some issues with these components and was concerned that GA-K8NS Ultra-939 might also??
I've read bad and good about the GA-K8NS Ultra-939 with latest BIOS

Will they work together?
Feedback appreciated!

Comments and suggestions on the new system i will be buying please:

Case : Cooler Master Centurion5

Power Supply: Cooler Master 24pin 450 watt From what i understand, the 350 watt 20 pin that comes with the case does not work with an nforce4 24 pin mobo, right?

Motherboard: Chaintech VNF4/Ultra nForce4

Video: Leadtek 6600 GT

Processor: Athlon64 3000+ winchester

Memory: pqi Turbo pc4000 1 gig

Hard Drive: Seagate sata II 120gb

Burner: NEC 3500A

Heatsink/fan: Thermaltake Silent Boost with arctic silver 5

I'm planning on probably running my memory at its rated 250 FSB, though I may drop back some if I encounter any problems. Pretty good band for $1,050. Give feedback, especially if you see anything really wrong with this setup.

Everything seems fine except for two things.

Do not get that HSF. Do not get thermaltake. Get a Thermalright or a Zalman cooler. THat THermaltake will not cool worth crap and will sound like a jet engine taking off inside your computer.

Secondly i would HIGHLY reccommend that you spend an extra $20 and get one of the OCZ Power/Modstream PSU instead of the Coolermaster. THe OCZ's have the 24 pin cable, plus they are much stronger than that cooler master.

Actually, your Coolermaster 450W 24Pin choice is just fine, because it obviously will be compatible with the board and it has Active Power Factor Correction as well. That is definitely a solid choice, and your heatsink choice isn't a bad one either. I have heard the Silent Boost K8 and it is very quiet, mainly being that it's hydro-wave bearing fan spins only at roughly2450-2500rpms. I think the other guy must be mistaking it for the other Thermaltake K8 fan that really does sound like a jet engine, because there is no way that thing could reach that noise level.

If you want better cooling but don't want to (and don't have to either) spent $40 for just a Thermalright heatsink, then I would suggest the Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu or the all-copper CNPS7000B-Cu. However, if you are going to bump it up to the 250Mhz or so you specify, I would be more inclined to go with a Panaflo fan and a Thermalright XP-90 or XP-120. They have excellent cooling, and are surprisingly light.

The OCZ ModStream 450w looks good, but it is 160 by 150 by86 mm. Standard is 150X140X86. Anyone know if this will cause a problem with mounting it in the coolermaster case? Also, from what I can find it has a 20 pin connector with an extra 4 pin connector "to avoid the need for a 20 pin adaptor". Is this true nforce4 compatable 24 pin, or somthing else? I'v heard of seperate 4 pin connections for lga775 boards, so this concerns me. Also should I go for the more expensive PDP 3200 2-2-2 memory that I'v seen recomended all over this thread, or stick with the cheaper pqi pc4000? Answers much appriciated.

Very, very nice.

I'd look at the fortron blue storm as a psu option.
And I'd go to sidewinder and buy the xp-90 and 92 mm sunon fan for 61 bucks shipped as my hsf combo.

and check out this memory
http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=20-220-033&depa=0

it has the same parts as the ocz plat rev 2 that is the best possible oc'ing memory for a64.
