I have three suggestions:
For headphones the Sony MDR-V6

For a heatsink the Thermalright ALX-800. A high preformer with a copper base and aluminum fins. Much less expensive then the SLK-900 on average. This has been discontinued from Thermalright so a possibility for a great deal.

Include a UPS with AVR (automatic voltage regulation.) The UPS is overlooked a lot, and after you put together a new comp, your probably not thinking about buying much else cause your tapped, but it is still a valuable investment. AVR is available on the mid range to higher end UPS's.

I have something I would like you to re-consider on the budget ram side of things Crucial8T using miron/crucial modules granted not binned like expensive OCZ EB and Ballistix which uses them but they hit 250Mhz at 3-3-3 in a64's, cheaper than dirt @77 for 512 stick, are backed by Crucial the most compatable RAM in the world, and are guranteed for life by a company that will be around forever.

If you are going to buy

EPoX 8KDA3J NForce3 250Gb Motherboard S754 - $100

for the mid end system, be advised that it does not work well with 2 sticks of double sided ram like the Corsair in the recommendation.

Some claimed that it worked fine even though the manual says otherwise, but it took me 2 weeks of switching every part out to pin it down.

System would freeze randomly in games and burn-in tests causing me to falsely blame it on the 6800 GT and powersupply. Independently tested both sticks and they were fine on their own but the system would not be stable with both sticks whenever I ran any kind of video intensive application.

Hi All

well i got a Athlon Xp+ 2400,512 mb ram ddr266,and a Asus A7n8x-x mobo,80gb PATA drive.
well am looking do any one of the upgrade, please do suggest the best option :

1:120 or 80 gb SATA drive.
but i do not have a controller,so i assume that i will be putting a pci based SATA controller, cause i dont think my mobo has a onboard controller.if i do this will install my os on the SATA and my program dumps on PATA.please suggest.as i do SETI@Home i do not want any kind of bottleneck on my system.

2 DVD writer
well this looks the most appealing but i am still unsure about the incompatibility issues. will i be able to write video files and still be able to view them on my sony dvd player.also with other formats like hd-dvd and blu-ray,should i buy it?

3:120gb pata drive and a dvdrom/cdrw drive
well this is just to get a bit more real estate!!!

4:suggest me any other change but that will be around the same money as i can get in any of the above options.

i got time till december, but starting to research early

thanks
