System spontaneously rebooting, helb

I?ve been having this problem for quite a while now and I just can?t seem to fix it. If I look at the event viewer the error is:

The weird thing is that it is so random, sometimes it?ll be five days until the PC reboots, mostly when I?m playing a game (c&c generals) and sometimes it happens like 4 times, 5 minutes apart when I'm just surfing the net.

I did the usual stuff ? checked temps, changed drivers for vid card, updated via4in1?s. Didn't fix it. However, then I tested the memory, memtest v3.0, and it found 169 errors after completing 2 passes. So could this be the cause?? 169 errors doesn?t look to good? Any other suggestions?

Also keep an eye on your temps.... Heat could cause it... Reseat the CPU/HSF if mem swap doesn't help.

Crispy86, most likely you got a bad 512MB DDR PC2700 memory stick. As far as I know, only 2 components of the system could trigger this kind of random system reboot: bad memory and bad mobo. Try replace that memory stick and see whether it'll go away. It' possible that PC games, which usually put a huge load on every hardware component of the system except HDD when they run, most of all the game will try to allocate as much memory it could get from Windows for all kind of fancy graphics and textures, and thus come to utilize portions of memory where regular applications don't necessarily go after.

Another vote for the RAM change...


I thought about maybe it's a bad PSU, but you have a good PSU and shouldn't worry about it, unless you have a manufacture defect...but since you get an error before the reboot, you don't have to worry about the PSU being the problem.

Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't....i've had a ton of problems w/ soundblaster anything.....they have horrible driver support. I had BSOD's because of my TV card and soundblaster conflicting w/ each other.

Looking at your system specs, those are 2 potential, but HIGHLY UNLIKELY problems....maybe it contributes to the problem due to poor ram...

YES CHANGE UR RAM...then if it happens, look into those two other potentials...
