My main box, about 29 days. My WHS server has been up for 62 days straight. The others are way less.

I don't let it go past 7 days usually. I sometimes run into slow internet speeds that speakeasy.net confirms (my laptop is going great though so it's just this machine) and a simple reboot fixes it. Brand new machine and everything.

I just shut down my computer when I'm not going to use it for a long period of time, such as when I go to sleep or am going to head to campus. Ubuntu 8.04's hibernation on my laptop is mediocre and not any faster than just restarting, so I normally just shut-down. The Windows side of my laptop used to have uptimes of up to 3 weeks due to hibernation, but after a while, I found that system performance was generally better when I shut down fully at the end of the day and did a fresh restart in the morning.

i turn my computers off when i'm not using them.

unless you're running a server, what's the point? bragging about uptime seems...lame. i thought people wanted to reduce energy

My system (Vista) goes to sleep every night, and wakes up at the touch of the keyboard or mouse. I don't run any wacko crunching programs, nor host pirate movies/music, so there's no point in keeping my system up and wasting electricity 24/7. PG&E rates are expensive.

You are a noob. You hit enter and/or use tab. No one who knows how to use a computer clicks "ok" anymore.

That, and mine's been up for about 14 hours and will be powered down within the hour. I turn it off when I go to sleep.

That's nothing. I've got servers up 5+ years.

Proof or shens. Also are your servers on a ship?

Nope - box I setup at my old College when I was a sophomore for testing. On its own UPS that we bought. Never had a need to reboot it.
