System Won't Post anymore!

Hey Everyone,

So one day last week I came home, turned on my computer and nothing happened! I've had the system for almost 4 years. There is no signal to the monitor or anything.

Here are my specs:

MSI 865PE Neo2 Motherboard
Pentium 4 processor w/ HT (Socket 478)
1 GB (2x512) PC3200 RAM
64MB AGP 8x video card
and a bunch of other stuff connected to it.

I have tested the video card on another machine and it works so its prob not that.

I've also reset the CMOS jumper and took out the CMOS battery and put it back and still nothing. I also gave it a thorough cleaning (in terms of dust) for all that's worth. So i don't know whats wrong with it!

I read somewhere else that i should take it out of the case and put it on a nonconducting surface with minimal components (CPU, video card, and RAM)...I'll try that and see if it works but in case it doesn't any suggestions would be very very helpful.

EDIT: The Mobo is currently outside my case on a nonconducting surface with power, CPU, video card and RAM connected and i turn it on and nothing happens.

Try another PSU. Also remove and reseat ALL components on MB. Use only one stick of RAM.

Thanks for the advice.....I connected my other computer's PSU to the mobo and still nothing. I think i'v removed and reset everything including the CPU. Also I am using one stick of ram currently to test it.

Any other suggestions? Is this the end of the line for my mobo?

If I do have to buy a new mobo i'd like to use the same CPU however it seems since its a socket 478 it's harder to find motherboards....any suggestions on where to look? Is it possible that my socket 478 would be compatible with a socket 775? Finally, how can I make sure that my CPU isn't busted?? I don't want to buy a new mobo for this CPU only to find out that it was the CPU that was the problem.

CPU failure is very rare unless you're pumping a lot of Vcore to sustain an oveclock. Look for bulging caps on the MB. I think the MB is toast. Check the for sale forum for a used board.
