T-bird 1000 won't pass 1070...!?

Hey,

I bought myself a Thermalright SK6 to get better cooling for my system. It works so well I decided to try to overclock my machine a bit.

I currently have a AMD -AJFA- Thunderbird 1000 (10x100). When I try to get it at 1100(10x110), Windows (2K and ME) get fatal errors and I cannot boot... When I get the CPU to 1070(10x107) everything is fine... Any suggestion on what the problem may be?

I think it's quite odd that my CPU won't past a mere 7% overclock... Maybe it has to do with my PCI card not being able to tolerate 36MHz. But again, it's pretty weird if they can't.

And by the way, I got it rolling at 1100 this summer with my crappy stock HSF. So I know it can do it.

Seems like i'm having a problem crossing 1155 mhz stable on my 1.1 ghz... I can't even get it stable at 1200 @ 1.85 volts.. looks like it's possible that we got some bad chips.. Can anyone else shed some light on our problems?

i think it's a common problem w/ KT133 chipset mobo's

i use to have an ABIT KT7 and i can even get to 106 FSB
try multiplier overclocking instead.. e.g. 11x100=1100
if u can't change your multiplier, try and do a search on unlocking TBird multiplier...

KT133 mobo rarely go beyond 110 FSB. In ur case...unlock the CPU & up the multiplier. U have to up ur vcore as well.

Where do you get off calling it bad chips? Does it run at the speed you purchased? No one is guaranting it will oc like most others reported here. OCing is a bonus...

There are other factors that may be limiting your ocing. I have a 1.1 in the beginning I could get to 1.232, but after I started installing more ram and other peripherals I couldn't post at 1.232 and stability was only achieved at 1.2.
