[that's the trick - you don't have to be an employee of a certain place to get the deal - you just need to know the code. There's no verification or possibility of them coming back to you later if they do an audit]

It appears that you can get a discount on all T-Mobile devices using this code (even though it says "HTC"), but the G1 is the way I went. 3G on this one is faster than my friend's AT&T iPhone. Could just be the area I'm in (or the fact that not many people are actually on TMO's 3G network yet), but it definitely loaded pages faster.

Was it? I searched the phone number and it brought up some legitimate results; apparently it's a T-Mobile business number...
Ripped from SD (from a post made about a year ago):

"Something that I just found out though is that the phone number (1-866-464-8662) is actually T-Mobile's "business direct" line, which handles employee / friends&family programs. "
And then they went on to put a very similar looking promo code: 838TMOFAV (probably expired by now since it's been about a year since it's been issued.)

One point that was brought up was the fact that you had to sign up for a new line to qualify for those prices. Is this true OP, because it might kill the deal for a few of us (aka those of us who JUST got a new phone literally three days ago).
Or is it possible to negotiate those prices, along with the standard $20 upgrade fee?

I think most phone companies have a "buyer's remorse" grace period where you can return the phone and cancel the contract within a week or two and they'll void the contract you signed. You'll just have to pay for any minutes you used.

That code doesn't work but the Blackberry Rim code does work. (7490TMOFAV) Just ask if you can use it for the G1 instead. It is now $139.99 with a 2 Year contract, NO free BT headset and the free companion ticket.
