They're locked to T-Mobile, so you can use a monthly TMobile SIM in it. Or get it unlocked for other providers. If you want to get the rebate, I believe you have to use once or twice.

Your best bet is to use it until you run out of minutes, get it unlocked, and then use it how you wish.

Even better, if You have a CompUSA near you... they sell this for about 70 bucks, but have an ADDITIONAL $20 rebate!!!

Buy from Compusa, PM to Target price...

Pay ~ 38.xx, send 30 rebate AND 20 rebate.. MAKE $11 BUCKS!

$15 I believe. What makes this hotter than most prepaid plans is the fact that you can buy 1000 minutes for $100 and they'll be valid for 1 year. With the included $15 airtime it'll give you 90 or so minutes per month with no expiration worries for a year.

You can get a year of service from Virgin Mobile for less ($20 for 3 months), but you will only get about 30 mins/month ($0.25/min, $0.10/min if more than 10 mins per day).

The 6010 allows you to use T-Zones. The first option in T-Zones is to get your account info.

I know you can do #646# on a regular T-Mobile phone to get the usage. I don't know if you can do that on prepaid.

I have a 6010 on prepaid. It's accessible via Menu->Services->t-zones->My Account Info. It responds with:

"Your balance is xxx nationwide Wheneve minutes ($xx.xx). Your balance will expire on mm-dd-yyyy at midnight. ..."

I just tried to match this at Compusa, and they gave me a bunch of bs that they dont compete with Target and that this is a clearenced, limited item. Anyway, I went to Target (they had a lot of them there) and bought one for 40 bucks after tax. It comes with $15 card as well. This should be good for my grandpa.

Thanks OP.

The thread should be updated to say rebate not valid if bought at Target, Walmart, Sam's Club.

You must buy this at a different store to get the T-Mobile $30 rebate.

Yep, the $30 MIR is not valid if you bought it at Sam's club, walmart, or target.

If you check the HUGE prepaid thread all the details are covered.

Office Depot and Staples at least in my area are dropping T Mobile to go, and have nothing on the shelf or online. Could be just the model change as the 6010 is just about to be replaced, but they may really be getting out of prepaid.

Rebates on this phone are NOT available if you buy it from a number of places like Walmart and I am assumig Target is on the list too, but I am not reading the form for you.

Best price at least a week ago was via HSN.com which was about $8 after rebate.

$100 refill cards give you 1000 min, last a year, and make you a gold member so all future refills roll over for another year. Its the best plan for low minute users. Our phone came with $15 of usage, but that is only 60 min. Shopping around $100 refill cards also have discounts, cheaperphonecards.com can be as low as $92.

Virgin Mobile is the main competition, except the kinda cheesy Sti, but Virgin charges 25 cents a minute for the first few minutes each day and that can REALLY rack up charges.

I went to CUSA on Saturday, manager immediately shot me down on a PM to Walmart (said it was below his cost). Then he said is that online pricing, I said no, in store too. Then he torqued me off by saying PM was Manager's discretion, NOT Corporate Policy.

I sent a scathing email to CUSA Corporate, did not get an answer... SO I went back yesterday.. smiling as I walked in the door.

I grabbed a phone, walked right up to the Manager (same guy), and said "Price Match this!" Then I gave him a printout of Target's weekly specials (specifically page 20), a print out of the phone itself on that page, where is said "IN-Store ONLY", and finally, a copy of CUSA Terms from the website... all 7 pages! I pointed out that CORPORATE policy says nothing about below cost, manager's discretion, or any other excuse he had.

He asked if Target had them in stock, and I said yes. He said he would call... I gave him the number to the Target that was at the other end of the strip mall.

They told him, Yes, in stock.

He walked me to the register, explained the price match to the cashier, apologized for the hassle, and walked off!

The girl rang it up, the Rebates (both of them) printed out, and I skedaddled!!!

If you want to price match at CUSA, be prepared for a fight!

Cost of Phone = 40.xx with tax.
Cost of Phone, AR = I Make 11.xx!
Cost of making CUSA Manager eat crow and apologize = PRICELESS!!!

Damn, prepaid phone deals are getting to where you don't ever have to buy a phone, same as for contracts. Very nice, thanks OP!

Staples on Continental Avenue in Forest Hills didn't want to match, only offered to bring it down $12 from $79.99 so it would match $37.88 AFTER rebate!

Staples on Van Wyck in Jamaica PM'ed no problem.

Only problem? The phone sucks, and is the exact same thing as my GF's 3595 which I was trying to replace. Only difference is it has annoying AIM client.

Going back to the store tomorrow,w hat a waste of time! hehe Of course, if you don't have a fone at all, it's basic and fills your needs.
