We're thinking about getting a cell phone when we move -- I was looking at T-Mobile...I need free long distance, free roaming (from NJ to NH, anyways), preferably unlimited nights/weekends. Unlimited mobile-to-mobile with two phones would be nice -- we're thinking of going wireless only (after we move..this Saturday), with no land line.

T-Mobile has two phones with 800 anytime and unlimited n/w, but that's a bit high, IMHO..it seems that I'd be better off with two separate $39.99 plans vs one for $70...(600 + 600 + unlimited nights/weekends vs 800 shared anytime and unlimited nights/weekends)..

Anyways...any suggestions, or does anyone know of any specials going on?

I'm happy with T-Mobile so far. I had SprintPCS before.

I'm in Texas though, so I don't know how the service is in NJ.

I am in chicago and it works great here. When I was in Arizona I was in the middle of nowhere and was still able to recieve a signal. So I have nothing bad to say about t-mobile.

I'm in NJ , Northern NJ and Mid NJ the service is good. So far.

I like Verizon better but T-mobile is above average.

Just stay away from ATT, Cingular, and Sprint and you should be good.

I recently went from Nextel to T-Mobile and then back to Nextel. The only reason I went back to Nextel is because they gave me a deal I could not resist and I'm so accustomed to answering beep beep.

But T-Mobile has its pros. You have your online billing and tracking of your minute usage.

I have used T-Mobile for over a year now and I've been pleased for the most part with their service. However, when I first got on with them, I didnt have any credit, so I had to have someone else sign for it (a relative) instead of ploping down a $500 deposit. That is my only complaint about them, but I can still see why they do a credit check.

I am extremely happy with them, in the Houston area. I traveled with my cell phone to Colorado and Louisiana and the quality and availability are always excellent.
They also have an add-on you can purchase for $10/month, where you get unlimited mobile-to-mobile (I think both mobiles must be T-Mobile's) plus unlimited text messages.

Thanks all!

For NJ people...on a ~$40/mo plan, how much extra are taxes and other charges?

I'm pretty sure it comes out to around $45.00 a month.

Also look into their T-Mobile T-Zones which is $2.99 a month and you get 1mb of internet browsability.

I haven't hated things, but if you want the best coverage, go with Verizon or AT&T. My AT&T phone is much better than the T-mobile phone in the Seattle area.

my friend has t-mobile. we live in the southwest suburbs of chicago and the coverage and quality is decent at best. we both agree that verizon is better around here. can't say anything about the east coast though.

I'm from NJ..and I have T-Mobile...

it's not awesome..but it's not awful either. I always get cut off when I'm driving on the highway (certain spots)..or remote places (like where my bf lives). Reception at my house is decent..but it used to be a lot worse.

Wanted to go with Verizon when my first year's plan was up...but went back with T-Mobile because of the mobile to mobile minutes...so my mom wouldn't have to pay extra to call me (big mistake, btw)...now she calls me all the time.

Yep...so T-Mobile = not bad.

i just picked up their service for wireless internet and needless to say, it is going back to the store on monday.

i am sitting in my room right now, and i have to go to a window in order to get a signal strength of 1 bar. otherwise, no signal.

EDIT: Oh, and I live in Jersey.
