lets put this another way. you go and sign up for a $50,000 a year job. then you and your employer find out that your skills are suddenly worth $100,000, and you're not easily replaced (in fact, you're almost irreplaceable). do you just sit with your $50,000 because that is what you agreed to before the new information? no. you wouldn't. why is this any different?

if that is the case, TO should never have signed a contract with the niners for more then one year. just keep signing one year contracts, so at the end of the year, you can go whichever way you please.

anyway, i most likely do not know all the details of the situation. since TO is not satisfied with his current deal, why did he sign it in the first place? was it him who said last year that he is the best WR not named "randy moss", or was that someone else?

TO's a POS. He's one of 2 or 3 players where a career-ending injury would bring a smile to my face.

and then they figured out just how well he works with the eagles' system. again, this is new information. last year it was just speculation.

Then he shouldn't have signed a seven year contract. The guy is an honorless POS.

Uh, he's talking about Terrell Owens, aka T.O.

If you'd read his first post you'd either A) Realize that, or B) Have no idea who Terrell Owens is anyways

I read the first post,
thats why I asked.

If you said OJ,i would know who that was.TO,i did not.

at least once in the originl post the persons name would be helpful.

Thnx.

Oh please. He may be an asshole on the field, but off the field hes pretty much a stand-up guy. Or would you rather see him dealing drugs, killing people, or raping women?

The honor argument is ridiculous. If the owners don't have to honor contracts they sign with players, why should the player honor their contract? Until NFL teams and the players union agree on mutually gauranteed contracts, I think player holdouts are fine.

If he'd suffered a debilitating injury last year they would have broken him off and he would have got nothing. One year into a seven year contract...

Don't get me wrong, I hate T.O., but in the end this is just millionares screwing billionares and the other way around. Both sides will do it if they can so I don't really care. It's not just the owners that are dishonest and it's not just the players either.

if you'd read my posts you see this isn't a contract in the sense of a real contract. this is an at will employment agreement with several terms laid out. since the eagles could cancel at any time, ('oh, sorry, we need the cap room') so can TO. only baseball has real contracts. the nfl's owners are honorless POSes for calling such employment agreements 'contracts.'

Ray Lewis will set his pistol packin' posse loose on T.O., and you'll hear about the shootings on the 11:00 news !

Its no wonder Nascar is gaining viewers, as pro football players like T.O. turn off the average viewer to the point where they wanna watch a buncha cars turn left for 500 laps.

I'm not taking sides here, but this is fairly common in football to renegotiate a contract. Unlike other professional sports, in football a team can cancel a contract on a player for whatever reason.

If a player gets old and is still making 8 million a year the team can say "take one million a year or we cut you and you get nothing".

TO isn't a bad guy, he's renegotiating his contract while he is young because he knows that when he's older the team will be doing the same thing to him.

Poor T.O., he only already has more money than anybody on this board will most likely ever see.

I sympathize for the plight T.O. Suffers!!

Why can't you send some sarcasm to the owners who are underpaying TO?

Yes he is underpaid by over 2 million per year. Poor owners, they're underpaying one of their top 2 players and are whining when TO complains....

wait, don't these players have insurance? i remember reading back in the day that when rashan salaam (sp?) was coming outta college, he refused to play in any bowl games because he did not want to risk injury. then he (or someone... an agent perhaps?) bought like a $2 million policy and he played in the senoir bowl or something. i assume that if a college player can buy insurance, wouldn't an nfl player? i know nba teams have insurance in case their players go down (ie - grant hill).
