T1 frame & Encoding - Spidey ?

I use ESF for frame and B8ZS for encoding.. any one know if UK uses the same frame and encoding for their E1 ?

oh geez, I used to know this. I don't think its the same framing/encoding (guessing). Can you ask the provider?

gotta love cisco's site...looks like E1 uses totally different framing/code (crc4/no-crc4 and hdb3 respectively)

The framing is completely different (24 channels per frame vs. 30/32 channels per frame), however the HDB3 encoding is for similar reasons for our B8ZS. It all has to do with ones density and ensuring the signal can be properly recovered by the repeaters. The framing picture is different from our perspective. You have the option of getting a framed or unframed E1, the difference being whether or not two channels are reserved for telco/signalling (there is no concept of RBS in the E-carrier system).

Okay, I'll bite. If you're in the US, why are you getting an E3? An international project, or just a really weird local setup?

My question was for UK, i am in us but we're upgrading a e1 to a e3 and the isp really sucks

meh, it works well enough. In some respects they really are inovators (they do drive the market in some sense...much like MS)

but they're suffering from being too big and the other players are nipping at their heals.
