T40 Hibernate Error

After owning my IBM T40 for 8 months, the hibernate mode seems to goof up. I press the hibernate button and it hibernates just fine, but then when i try and wake it from Hibernation, The screen looks like what you would see if you tried to play an old NES cartridge that needed to be dusted. However, i don't think it's a hardware problem. It has never happened when i restart or turn it off and then on. It only happens after having left the laptop on for a few days (i go in and out of hibernation just fine a few times before this problem arrises again) and having many programs still open when hibernating. I have tried updating all my drivers and have updated windows too. I've described the problem the best i can. To fix this problem i either go inot hibernate and comeback and it all of a sudden gets fixed, or i do a hard restart. Any ideas?

Hibernate creates a file that stores all of your information in RAM at the time of shutdown, then reads this file to restore Windows. It sounds like your hibernate file might be getting corrupted. Here are my suggestions:
Disable hibernation and reboot the computer. This should remove the hibernation file completely.
Use a good defrag utility (Try to find some free ones, otherwise I guess Windows defrag will work) and run it several times on your drive(s).
Re-enable hibernation. Run defrag once more for good measure. This should hopefully eliminate any issue of fragmenting with your hibernation file & remove any potential problems.
If that doesn't work, write back and we'll look into other options. GL
