Tablet Owners: Do you really USE it?

I got myself an iPad 2 two months ago, and I find if I rarely use it. I rarely take it with me because it doesn't fit in my pocket like a smartphone can, and I rarely use it at home because my laptop has more functionality.

Every time I use my iPad, I usually find myself wishing for a bigger screen, a real keyboard, or some software application (like OpenOffice or Flash) that isn't available on that platform.

Sure, it's nice for viewing pictures or playing Angry Birds. I don't think that functionality is worth $600, however.

Does anyone else feel that way about their tablet, or am I the only one?

I use my tablet all the time. At home it's the web consumption device, so I only use my MBP for apps like video editing or tasks that need more grunt. In the office, for meetings that need data or email it's easier to take the tablet than a laptop, but then I use a 7" tablet, not a 10".

There's a browser that supports Flash if I need it, but I rarely do.

I've bought tons of stuff that collects dust, the iPad is not one of them.

My Transformer has already replaced the laptop as my couch device. I also use it as a remote for my HTPC. Typing this post from it now actually.

Since it's summer, and I'm not really doing any coding for school, the iPad is my main device right now. I basically come home from work and use it to surf the internet, check twitter, check facebook, and watch netflix. The only time I'll use my computer is later at night if I want to have multiple things running, but that happens less often.

Just use my Nook Color in the bedroom. Did take it on vacation, which was good.
At home I'd rather use my laptop.

No... But it's a habit thing. I suck terribly at breaking away from what I'm use to.

I actually just turned on my Playbook for the first time in 2 weeks to update it, and then turned it right off. Why? I've got my 40" TV to the right and desktop infront of me. Never been a couch person (spent my childhood on the carpet).

It has a lot of potential though. Playbook is portable and can do a lot of shit even without internet. The only problem is that I'm ALSO use to having a virtually empty bag that I hump around. Going from 2lbs to 4lbs is a huge difference, especially with the cases I "protect" it with.

I use my Android phone when I'm outside. When I'm home, I put my phone on the charger and then switch to my Android tablet and browse while watching TV. I use it pretty much everyday just like my phone. No regret spending $200 for it.

I do regret buying my $300 netbook. I haven't used it much since buying the tablet. Last time I used it was over month or two ago to flash new firmware on my tablet.

I used to want i5 notebook. I bought i5 desktop instead. If I'm going to sit down and use a computer, I want the full experience of a desktop with dual screen.

Use mine all the time. It may be because of novelty still, got it a week ago, but I love it! Flipboard is my go-to place now, can access everything I ever read on my PC and so much more, all in one place. So easy to find new stuff too. Also reading and doing stuff before sleeping is a lot more convenient now. My PC has been downranked to banking, gaming and music

Using a JB iPad2 btw.

If you don't use it, sell it. I should sell my netbook but $150 or so I could probably get for it isn't worth the hassle for me. But I'm sure you could get close to what you paid for your iPad2. People are crazy when buying used Apple products.

My iPad gets daily use. I use it mainly for reading news articles in the evenings which I guess is 'boring' compared to what a lot of people like to do on it. I'm a guitar player too so the Guitar Pro app is used probably 3-5x's a week.

I don't watch movies/tv on it at all and play games maybe once or twice a week in short spurts.

i use mine every single day. If you rarely use it, your doing it wrong.
like right now i'm kicked back on the couch with ipad, as apposed to being forced to sit in the desk cramp posteur looking downward at a screen. neffing atot with one finger...who would've thought.

I was blown away by it and it's free...

It literally blew me away too. It's so simple and intuitive and so smooth... Very natural to use, a lot of fun. Man, it's just a great "I'll make you a magazine out of pretty much anything" app

I need to just buy one of these and give it a try. I have all of these reasons in my head as to why I wouldn't like it but I guess there is really only one way to know.

For example, I'm typing this from my MBP right now. I'm sitting on the couch, the laptop is actually in my lap, and I can use it as a way to also rest my hands while typing this out. I can't imagine sitting as comfortably as I am now while also trying to surf/type on a message board with a tablet. Could be wrong though.

I don't use it daily but enough that I feel I am getting my $500 worth. To the user that said it's a gateway drug, I would agree. The iPhone 5 is going to be my next phone so I can consolidate OS's.

I barely use my Xoom because of lack of applications that are even remotely worthy on there. I'm trying to get rid of it and get an iPad 2, but it's so hard to find someone to purchase it/trade it for their iPad 2. It makes me a sad panda.

List it on eBay or craigslist, it's close to eol production wise, and the price will plummet when that happens...

If you don't find that you use your xoom because of "lack of worthy applications" what makes you think that an ipad 2 will be any different? Most apps these days can be found on both devices, so you are just going to be using the same worthless apps. If not the same exact one, there will be a close substitute.

I just don't see the point of saying, I don't use my current tablet enough, so I think I'll buy a new one.
