Tablet Questions...

Part 1:
If you had about $500 USD to spend on a tablet, what would you go to first?

I know nothing about tablets, despise them yet people look to me for recommendations. Therefore I'll look to you all for recommendations before researching further! This is for business use, not home/personal.

Part 2:
While I'll be ordering 10 of the above mentioned tablets, I do have a larger budget for 1 single device that would be used for media. (Pictures, videos etc...) So if you had the option, do you think it's worth getting a better grade tablet with a decent rear facing camera, or spend the money on an actual camera? Let's say the max budget for this device is about $1000 USD. The benefit to getting a tablet over a camera is it would allow our users to use apps from the Google Play store or the Apple store to create content on the device rather than requiring the photos/videos to be tweaked on a desktop.

I'd probably look at iPads. IMO Apple is the only company truly serious about tablets. Android tablets are fine if the budget is $100-$200 but if you're spending $500, I'd go for iPads.

If going Android, I'd look into Samsung's best like the S4.

I think cameras on tablets aren't great, mainly just passable. Taking pictures with them is annoying to all involved: clunky to take good shots with, and annoying to people around you especially when their view of events is blocked.

If image quality is important, I'd say spend on a good camera and have someone use a laptop or tablet to process.

You might also consider a decent phablet for the camera and also the person could use apps on it. Whichever iPhone or Android phone has the best camera currently.

For $500 id only look at ipads and not android. Android has the low end tablet market, Apple has the high end.

Are there any must-have apps or functionality for your tablets? That might influence the decision.

But if not, or if your needs aren't too specific... iPad. Like others have said, Apple seems to be the only one that consistently cares about higher-end tablets (even Samsung's Galaxy Tab S4 is using last year's CPU), and the iPad is a very good example. I'd go with the standard model unless your users are very demanding and need attachable keyboards, raw performance or top-tier photography.

I was tempted to suggest the Surface Go, but it's actually a tough sell when I think about it. It's really for people who want a laptop that sometimes doubles as a tablet. Use it without the keyboard and a lot of the allure goes away. The battery life is merely so-so next to the iPad, and Apple has more touch-native apps.

For business use, unless you need Windows applications, iPad is the way to go. Apple's corporate management software is leagues ahead of anything Android can offer (except maybe Samsung's Knox, but that's only really on their phones).

Edit: Read part 2: if image editing is a requirement of the expensive device, iPad for sure. It's getting a full-blown touch-oriented version of Photoshop in 2019.
