Well, they're film cameras, not video, and I guess they may have been powered by some kind of mechanically wound motor, rather than an electric one.

Go check out the test footage of the Bikini Atol detenation. That was a thermonuclear bomb (H-bomb).

Way bigger than any atomic bomb explosion.

Right. Sure he does.

In reality though, it isn't any more destructive than a MOAB. It's a small tactical warhead. Not a city buster.

I looked up the size of the gun...it's a 280mm cannon, which is approximately 11".
That is big for a land-based, portable unit.

For comparison, the Germans had 2 battle cruisers and some small "pocket battleships" equipped with 11" guns in WW2.

Hey. That cannon looks like "Atomic Annie". I saw her at Ft Sill.

no, h-bomb is a Hydrogen bomb - vastly more powerful than any a-bomb and is based on nuclear fussion instead of fission. hopefully some military buff will elaborate more on that

An H-bomb produces most of its energy from the fusion of hydrogen. The only way to create conditions for fusion to occur is by harnessing the intense radiation of a fission bomb to initiate fusion.

The original A-bombs were pure fission weapons using Uranium and Plutonium only.

IIRC, all the nuclear shells built were pure fission weapons

OK another question
Both H-bombs and A-bombs Create harsh nuclear fall out? Or do H-Bombs not create after radiation?

There is always going to be some amount of fallout from any nuclear device. This can be increased as desired by adding certain materials to the casing of a nuclear weapon that become radioactive isotopes after exposure to the intense radiation. The strength and duration of the radiation are dictated by the specific element used.

The altitude of detonation also determines the amount of fallout to a degree. The closer to the ground the weapon is the more material is exposed to radiation and scattered by the blast.

H-bombs in their present form do create harsh nuclear fallout.

An H-bomb itself has no fallout as the results of the fusion reaction are Hellium. The problem is, you need a tremendous amount of energy to achieve fusion and currently the only way we can do it is by creating a fission reaction (A-Bomb). Hence the radiation.

Scientists have been working for years on ways to create fusion reactions without needing fission reactions first...unfortunately funding has always been hampered by the bad reputation that nuclear energy has gotten due to fission's fall out.
