Thanks for the vid, dling it right now. I caught another Olympic Taekwondo match on TV yesterday... it was soooo damn boring. They kept jumping around eyeing each other. Forget patience, they need to make it more... offensive.

thank you, u understand what im talking about

i guess most of you guys dont mind boxing matches where they mostly just hug each other the whole match. like john ruiz, watching his matches are so damn boring. his whole strategy is jab jab hug, or jab hook hug, or jab bodyshot hug. strategy??? maybe. boring??? hell yah!!!

Is there another version of this vid? For some reason my playback's either 2x speed or all stop-and-go. I saw the kick, but it happened very fast

BTW, I'm sure they're going to make some changes before the next olympics as I see many people in Korea are quite upset. The mass media is talking about it big time.

That's what I was thinking. Iw atched the GOld Medal match and thought it was boring. They just sit there and wait for one to do something so the other can counter.

Much more action at the TKD tournaments I used to go to when I took classes a few years back. Only kicks I saw on TV were plain odl roundhouse kicks with nothing fancy. How boring.

Well I understand when people can't take criticism on their own sport. After all, many spend a good part of their lives training under a discipline. I think maybe we just aren't picking up the nuances that happen when they are jumping around and facing each other. It's the same thing with wrestling, I appreciate when two wrestlers lock up and I understand what they are trying to do while tied up. But to others, they just see two guys bear hugging each other...

Wow, I just watched the video, that was a diesel kick to the head. This match was pretty good, full of action, but mostly from the Greek fighter. They might need to institute some stalling rules to get some offense going. In wrestling, if you step backwards too much, you'll get hit with stalling calls. Once you get hit twice, a point is awarded to the other guy and it builds from there.

But again, maybe this patience/defense/moving back is part of TKD.

I would have to say that fight looked pretty pathetic overall. It looked like a kickboxing match. I would have paid to see a hold fighter up against either of them.

Also, I don't think anyone pointed this out but the Korean guy went down also when he executed the kick. I don't think that was very good. Usually in martial arts you want to assume the worst, that you have multiple attackers, and going down like that isn't desirable.

I like how people are complaining there isn't enough action. Do you also also say "Hurry up, make a move" during chess matches? I thought the women's division sucked because all they did was throw round houses and didn't even go for the head with it. But I've always thought that women sucked in contact sports. But the men's division was pretty good, at least what I saw. I saw the middle weight division (Iraq vs US), and it was pretty good. I REALLY liked the heavy weight division (I just saw the Greece vs Korea). There are two different types of fighters, offensive and counter fighters. The Korean guy was definitely a counter fighter. And I can appreciate both styles. I liked the TKD competition overall. Good stuff.

ok, the file on my host works fine.

btw, some comments on the fight.

1. WOW that greek guys was FAST for a 6'7" guy.

2. Kudos to the korean for adjusting to fighting someone so much bigger. i'm sure he wasn't accustomed to fighting someone so much bigger than himself.

3. good fight.

Watch boxing, just one round and you will know what we are looking for, not jump, jump, jump for three rounds with a couple of kicks in the middle.

And no, chess is no huge spectator sport either.

i have to fault the korean though. he never initiated the attack, he was always counter attacking.

it like if it was 2 wrestlers, and one of the wrestler never shot in, but was instead waiting for his opponent to shoot in. kind of a pu$$y way to fight

yeah, what a pussy.

his opponent had 4" of height on him. he was the hometown favorite and had the entire stadium behind him. the korean fighter was patient and counterattacked. he's got a gold medal, probably doesn't give two sh!ts if you think it was a pussy way to fight.

btw, those replays are a pwned pic waiting to happen

I think it THE problem with TKD, everyone knows that the attacks opens you up for counter attacks which are not so easy to see when you are in the middle of your own attack, it makes them hesitant to attack, so they just stand there and jump until they have to attack.

It's not that it is a wussy way to win, not at all, it is just boring to watch it.

i was uploading it and filezilla got disconnected, so i reconnected and instead of just copying over and reupping it, i just continued the upload. it might account for some of the difference.
