UPDATE - Monday 6:30 am EST

Ok, I ended up getting so many request that I went ahead and ordered 100 of these on Friday before I left. As it stands right now I've got about 25 or so that haven't been claimed so if you still want one please let me know ASAP. Once I reach 100 I'll put you on a list in case someone backs out (already had a couple of those.) I've got quite a bit of my own money tied up in this now, so I hope those of you that said you were sending a check or MO weren't pulling my leg. It's kind of in TaiSol's/UPS's hands for the next few days, and I'll be sure and let eveyone know as soon as I get any info.

I'll post a running tally here of how many are left for purchase of the remaining 25.

And Bohemian, if you do what you are suggesting, and actually SELL anything that you buy using your Reseller's certification, then you MUST report those sales to the IRS and collect and pay the appropriate sales taxes or you are subject to some pretty severe fines and/or penalties...NOT a good plan, unless you like to live dangerously!

Not only that, if you are using the item for the business, you are then suppose to pay sales tax on that too. Otherwise, you have to include it in incoming tax. As a business, if you do not turn any profit for 3 years within a 5 years period, IRS is more likely to audit you. Just more headache than you ask for.

I'm sorry to continue this discussion, but Bohemian, if in fact you have had a legitimate business for 7 years, then you should KNOW that what you are suggesting is not only asking for trouble, but it completely illegal! Maybe you can get away with doing this once in a while under the name of your business, but even then you need to report this type of thing in case you should ever be audited. As for recommending that someone get a business license solely to rip off the IRS, that has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. (Tempting, but dumb.)


BTW, after doing a little investigating, it looks like these heat sinks should fit on a SS7 board, and should probably fit on a Socket 370 as well. Only way to find out for sure is to try, but I've heard from a few people who say that it works with a little adjustment to the clip...

I have already pp the money and I believe I should have been in either the first or second group buy as you are now on the fourth...have you gotten them in yet and shipped them out? I just haven't heard anything and was beginning to wonder what was up.

I call this a fourth group buy. Since at first we hoping to order only 25 for the group buy.
DaYooper ordered 100 HSF last Friday since he has request for ~ 80 HSF. In the past, I ordered mine on a Friday also. Ups ground deliver it the following Thursday(California to Texas.) If UPS don't mess up(they mess up alot on me:disgust, DaYooper should be receiving it soon.
Then however long it take for him to sent out 100 HSF & answering the MOUNTAIN of emails & inquirys, you should be receiving it next week by priority mail.

After you have receice your HSF, please go to Anandtech and put a positive rating in DaYooper's Profile. Don't forget to thank him for his hardwork putting this together for us. He is practically making nothing considering his times & efforts.

UPDATE

The first 100 have all been reserved, and I have received payment for about 3/4 of them. UPS tracking shows the HSF's in Grand Rapids, MI. That usually means I get stuff the next business day, so unless UPS screws up I'll have these on Monday and will mail them to those of you that have paid ASAP. (Probably Monday afternoon and/or Tuesday morning.) I'll email each person with their USPS delivery confirmation number when it's known.

I already have request for about 20 more so it looks like I'll be doing another order. I want to get the first 100 out though so I can see how many (if any) I have left from the non payers. If you still want one let me know, but remember that's it's probably going to be close to 2 weeks before you'll get one. (Assuming I order next week, about 7 days for shipping to me, and then a couple of days back to you.) i.e. If you REALLY needed a cooler yesterday, the group buy is not for you. I'm letting each new request know that the next order (if there is one for sure) will not be for a few days.

One more time for the dummies in the back. The purpose is not to rip off the IRS, it is to avoid getting charged state sales tax when you buy items for resale. Then you sell them out of your home state and charge no state sales tax. Perfectly legal and normal. Most folks don't think about getting a business license to do it though.
