wsmith, I got the same motherboard from the same vendor, and it comes with an approx. 5" X 8" booklet. As you have Internet access (hence, your post), I believe you can find all the Abit manuals online. But you should call up Isquared and get a printed manual for the KT7/KT7RAID. If you need help setting something up with your system, you can email me.

Just received and installed my Taisol today. The indicated temp dropped from 53c to 39c! Just using the supplied thermal pad. Maybe it's now time to shoot for 1 gig.

Thank you Ryan!

Anyone want to buy a slightly used gold orb?

I am debating if I should buy some more Artic Silver so I can use it along with this Taisol on my T-Bird 800.
It will cost me $14 for it and $5 for ground shipping.
Or should I just use the thermal pad also?
What do you guys think?

lundog22: search for a post for heatsink grease at amazon for the last couple days... apparently good stuff (though not artic silver) and considerably cheaper... depending on how much you value the 1/2 degree decrease or whatever artic silver would provide you.

Question: I am looking to attach a 486 hs/f on my geforce 2mx (creative) that came without any cooling at all (passive or active). Any hints on how I should go about this due to the lack of attachment mechanisms? I know I could buy some "frag tape" from hardocp, but that is pretty expensive for a one time deal.

From AMD zone

<< The Taisol is easily the hardest of the bunch to remove and install. >>

I guess this reviewer has never mess w/ the FOP 38. I must be highly skilled also, it wasn't that hard for me to put my Taisol on, using only a screw driver. I haven't remove it, so I can't say much about the removing procedure.

<< The Taisol costs roughly $27 while the Hedgehog runs $45-50 depending on the fan used. >>

$27!!!, I guess he is not buying from Ryan.

4 C differences btwn the TaiSol 733 & Hedgehog-238M can be made up by using Artic Silver(Correctly applied only of course.) The $14 price for a tube of Artic Silver still put the price lower than the Hedgehodge. Personally, I am using the supplied therman pad.

That was a poor job of a review in my opinion. If the reviewer would of payed attention and opened his eyes, he would of noticed that on one side of the clip there is a slot for you to insert a screwdriver to help apply safe pressure when installing the heatsink. If he is having extreme difficulty putting the thing on, he has problems elsewhere.

Secondly the reviewer didn't even let allow the TIM to go through it's required Phase Change before performing temperature tests. People don't understand that these TIM pads need to be "baked" at temperatures upwards of 57C to allow for maximum Phase Change, thus maximum cooling.

Thirdly, no mention as to what kind of stress the CPU was in when temperatures were taken. Full load? Idle? Also, a proper test would of involved at least a session of RC5, Prime95, Seti@home, or something else to properly stress the CPU.

All in all a very poor review.

Sorry to go MIA on everyone the last few days. I had to go out of town on work and just didn't get a chance to answer everyones emails before I left. The second group of 100 should be here soon (I ordered them last Thursday) and I currently have about 50 available, BUT I have a string of about 50 emails to go through yet. I'll reply tonight to anyone who has sent me a message in the last few days. I'm glad everyone is pleased so far.

This looks like a great little HSF. I about to buy the Thunderbird 900 and want something good to cool with. Here is a question for you overclocker pros out there. I have a 72 Watt Peltier that I want to use. But after I bought it from someone on this forum I am being told that finding a HSF large enough to disipate this amount of (roughly 80Watts) is impossible. And.I am being told that on the T Birds they are producing up to 60 Watts themselves. So....I get the idea that I need to disipate 132 Watts if i use this thing. Is this correct? Does anyone know where I can get something to do this amoutn of heat. or what do you think I will need. What about hooking multiple HSF to a copper plate or something. Any Ideas?..thanks Much appreciated

UPDATE

Second order came today. Because of the postal holiday on Friday these won't be mailed now until Saturday. I'll send everyone who has paid an email when I mail yours out.

I have just over 30 still available, so if you want one let me know via email. I'm starting to get a little busy with work so I might not be able to answer questions the same day as I was doing earlier.
