From what I hear on some of the sites, there was no major damage reported, so RAM prices should not go back up. But then again, you never can tell with the tightwads that want all the money in the world.
Even if prices do go up b/c of an event like this they do stabilize again. It took roughly 6-8 months last time this happened. Hoenstly who amoung us realy just couldn't wait that out? I've still got my 256MB of PC100 that I bought 2.5 years ago. It should last me at least another year. After that I think I'll have to move on to something that can do 133mhz bus, so I'll probably go DDR, but I'm stretching the lifespan on these chips .

A MFG. rep (at techie show in orlando) told me that 68% of all the mem chips are made there in tw... but china is getting a bigger bit of the market $$ and will continue due to the cheapo labor.
Frankly, i buy as much as i think i need when i need it and try not to worry about whats going on all the D** time
The last big earthquake that affected RAM prices was much more serious - I seem to recall that some of the warehouses storing some of the critical RAM components (raw silicone of some kind, I seem to remember??) were totally destroyed. Doesn't sound like that happened this time around..
